18hrs into my first ever dry fast

Been carnivore for 6 months, just heard about dry fasting yesterday. So far, so good. A little cottonmouth but nothing obnoxious. Ok to take a little hit of salt if I start feeling woozy? EDIT at 36hrs for stats and notes: 42/M/6'4. Weight at start of dry fast, 193.0lb. Weight at 36hr mark, 187.2lb. Felt thirsty in the afternoon yesterday for a couple hours, then by the evening that went away. No hunger. Had some minor leg cramping last night in bed but was still able to sleep ok. EDIT at 44hrs for notes: Feeling strong fatigue setting in. No hunger, light thirst desire, nothing crazy. But pretty tired. Will soldier through to 7pm tonight and check my blood glucose and ketone levels, and do a final weigh in FINAL EDIT at 48hrs: Broke through the heavy fatigue a couple hours ago, feel fine now. Minimal hunger/thirst. Final weight is 186.0lb Will definitely incorporate this again in the future! Am curious to see how much weight comes back on when I resume my strict carnivore + water diet

Answer

You really shouldn’t feel woozy at all on a dry fast unless 1) you’re transitioning into keto and get keto flu, or 2) you’ve been doing it past three days and your body wants some water.

Also, I wouldn’t recommend taking salt with no water. I took the tiniest piece of Himalayan rock salt day two of my five day dry fast but it made me feel slightly worse. Congrats on your progress.
