Sounds like your losing plenty. Google is losing weight too fast dangerous. Different opinions by doctors as always but many studies have shown losing more than one to two pounds per week can have long lasting effects like muscle loss, nutrient deficiencies, and slowing metabolism. The slowing metabolism is the tricky one because if that happens it makes all future weight loss harder. Slow and steady. 1-2 lbs per week is considered safe after the initial water weight loss. Congrats on your progress and good luck with your journey !
Not exactly healthy means different things to different people, especially here. Slip ups always have an effect on the next day but they can be recovered from if you work at it. Hey, if you screwed up and had a half package of bacon and scrambled six eggs in the fat but ate nothing else but some leafy greens you would be way better off than a person who had one 2 slices of bacon 1 egg 2 pieces of toast and a small slice of cake at lunch or dinner. Just, simply avoiding carbs will make you lose water weight because carbohydrates…. take a crap load of water to process. You likely should have lost more weight in Feb. but it’s gone now and you have a great start and valuable experience to help you through March. All in all, it was a great month and March will be too.
It is a massive weight loss in a very short time, but I wouldn’t stress too much if you’re not severely under eating.
I started at a similar weight (305), my first month of eating super clean and counting calories I lost 24.4, I attributed that to a lot of water weight cut due to completely cutting out processed food after it being majority of my diet prior. The next month I lost 19, the month after 9, and the month after 12.
1 year later and I’m hovering over and maintaining 185-190. I am 23M 6’2 so maybe some variation there. I did IF for the first half of the diet, and a regular calorie deficit for the rest.
If you’re getting sufficient nutrients and not starving yourself, you should feel good about the weight loss. Congrats btw! 👋
End of the day, find a routine that works for you, be consistent, and have patience. All 3 as important as the other. Good luck!
It’s very good. A couple of slip ups would probably only made a couple of pounds difference.
Please don’t be disappointed if you don’t lose as much next month. As you lose weight your BMR also drops which leads to a slower rate of weight loss.
If you’ve significantly restricted carbohydrates and salt–for instance, you’re not eating fast food french fries anymore when they used to be common–you’ve probably lost a ton of water weight. This is normal.
The only thing you need to be careful about is making sure that you’re not getting dehydrated, so maybe add some electrolytes to your routine. You also need to be aware that if you have cheat days or alter your diet, it’s possible to gain back 10+ pounds of water weight in as little as two or three days, and you should NOT take that as a sign that the diet is bullshit and you’ll just gain all the weight back as soon as you let up a little.
TL;DR, account for 10 or 15 lbs of water weight at your goal.
I lost well over 150lbs in 7 months which is averaging over 20lbs lost a month for 7 months. If done correctly it can be done and be fine. You can lose an extraordinary amount of weight quickly while maintaining almost all your muscle mass if done right.
