Hello! Excited to discover the world of Reddit and fasting. I started experimenting with fasting June 20th. So far my longest is 48 hours, but I’m crushing 36 hours. I would like to do 72, but my husband is wary because I’m home with 3 littles ages 6 and under so I’m working my way up slowly. He’s worried about brain fog or passing out. I promised him I would eat if I felt worried about either of those things, but I’ve been enjoying the process of working my way up. Some background: I’m 36, F, 5’10” and weigh 214 (SW:218 GW:160) I gained 60 lbs with each pregnancy and lost 40 lbs after each pregnancy so I have 60 lbs left over. I’d like to hit my goal weight by November when I turn 37. My 6 year old weighs almost 57 lbs and it just hit me when I picked her up the other day that I am carrying that much weight on my body. Last September I was in the hospital with Covid for 3 days. I was 3 months postpartum, had the flu, pneumonia and Covid all at once on top of being 60 lbs over weight. My immune system has been wrecked ever since. Constantly getting sick. Always tired. All my labs are good but-whatever. I am interested in losing the weight to be healthier but also to induce autophagy and reset my immune system. Realizing how much I over eat has been humbling. My mother in law who is mostly a saint tried to give me some tough love about the volume I eat when I wasn’t ready to receive it and I was really stubborn for a while about not accepting it. Thank you for giving me a place to talk. My family and friends are a little worried I’ll die of starvation so I don’t have anyone to discuss with.

I started a month ago and i am down 22 lbs. I started with one meal a day, only having dinner and water and black coffee and have success so far! I just did my first 48 and am feeling proud! I also have 2 little ones, 2 and 3 now, and manage to cook 3 meals a day and snacks without temptation. I am 10 pounds away from my weight pre-babies, and will lose another 50 and cant wait :) Lets do this! My skin in clearer, my headaches and inflammmation are gone and ive never felt better! And when i eat something thats isnt healthy now, it makes me feel like crap and reminds me its not worth it . Good for you, keep doing what tour are doing and it will come off!

I’m on day 6 with no food, just snake juice and some coffee and herbal tea. I have two small kids at home, ages 3 and 5. My energy has been good/normal, I’ve been taking regular walks and staying focused with my work (probably even more so than usual), and I keep deciding to extend my fast because I’m loving the benefits, but don’t miss the food at all, so why not? I originally planned to do a 3-day, but then I told myself I’d go for 7 days, but it’s possible I might go longer depending on how I’m feeling tomorrow. The snake juice really keeps me feeling balanced energy-wise. My advice - don’t be scared of a longer fast affecting your energy levels as long as you drink snake juice.
