That’s a big one - hope you have experience but support you either way! Advice would be get yourself a quality electrolyte powder and hammer the water.
Also: consider doing a weekly log! I’d love to read about how it goes, and it could help you stay motivated.
I’m finishing up a 72 hour one right now, but am going to probably do a 48 hour fast every week, assuming nothing crazy happens between now and 5pm tomorrow, when I’m breaking the fast ;)
Don’t set yourself up for failure by trying to lose 120lbs in one go. Even if you did accomplish that goal, you won’t like what it does to your body. As enticing as losing that much weight to start summer might be, you can lose a lot of weight with shorter fasts like ADF, working your way up to 24, 48, 72. You can even increase the speed of ADF or similar by going dry for 6 hours, then 8, 12 and even going dry ADF. You’ll probably want to put some gym time in as well to round out your body. These will give you progress, and the progress will make you happier than waving a wand and being 155 lbs ever could. Also the difficulty level of a 5 day fast is insane for most people, let alone 45. Start “slowly” (it will still work very fast if you’re consistent) and work your way up. The self control you gain will be much more valuable than whatever would come out of a 45 day fast. I wish you happiness and health!
I like your enthusiasm, and by all means go for it - but I’ve never made it past 4 days. (When only going for 7-10) Shooting for rolling 72s twice a week (eat Wednesday after work and all day on Saturdays) is working great for me currently.
You can do it! Your mental fortitude will be tested. If you can beat your urges, impulses and little demons for 5 days, they will submit.
My advice is load up on electrolytes and drink water when thirsty or hungry. Sounds like you have hella fat on you which means that you have lots of water to carry you, no need to drink more than what you want.
Listen to your body, it’s going to moan louder than some democrats but know that’s weakness leaving your body. If you are tired, take a nap. Get sunlight when possible and never forget to PRAISE GOD!
I admire you wanting to start with a 45 day, that’s huge. I wish you much success. If you don’t make it that far don’t consider it a failure, any fast is a start. Honestly I would try a quick 2-3 day to see how you react to it, and if good continue from there. I know you wanna lose it but trust me, it’s no rush. As long as you fast and eat right after a fast you’ll continue to lose pounds. Good luck! Stay hydrated and have something to do, sleeping more is even good.
I think you should do it! I am on day 6. I think you have yo adjust your goal, it likely going to end up being 45-75lbs lost, unless you plan to run 13 miles every day. My starting weight was 230, I’m at 222 after 6 days. I plan to start running 30min or 2-3 miles a day. I tried it and I think I can do it.
