A few questions about dry fasting

Hey everyone, I just wanted to ask a few questions about dry fasting. After a prolonged dry fast(3-7 days) how does one rehydrate themselves and then start eating again? What is the best protocol? I’ve seen some people mention on here about consuming salt during their dry fast. Does this break a fast? I want to do some extended dry fasting but work a pretty physical job. Are there dry fasters on here who also work physical jobs but have some decent success with being able to dry fast and continue to perform at work? Thank you

Answer

Salt doesnt hurt

You will tire quicker and lose weight faster. If you work a job where there is sporadic activity (ex. deliver furniture) or constant low activity (postal worker) then you’ll be fine. Construction might work too depending on the job. You will recover quickly after a short nap.

Your fat consumption will sky rocket so keep an eye on how much you have left.

The worst part of a dry fast is that you are skipping the dopamine releases coupled with food. So its a bit like kicking a nicotine addiction in that you will have cravings for specific food every now and then.

I think you can do it. But its something you have to either get used to or simply accept the suffering and embrace the suck.

I use mana soylent and take a little at a time. Its extremely easy to overeat and get poor nutrition if you give in to cravings. So I recommend something boring and nutritious to eat on the refeed. Partly because the dopamine kick will be a higher departure from baseline than normal if you eat junk and that will tempt you into food addiction.
