Accountability

Hello all! I’ve done this diet inconsistently in the past. Probably not long enough to provide much benefit. I just weighed myself. I’m back to my heaviest I’ve been at 265lbs. Granted a lot of that weight gain recently has probably been muscle since i hit the gym like a madman, but I’m chubby and i don’t like it. I’m planning on doing 1 72 hour fast followed by 2 48 hour fasts each week. I was wondering if there was a way you guys keep yourself accountable? I’m going to Europe in July and i want to be in pretty good shape for my trip, but i know myself. I’m going to have days where i completely lose motivation to continue the diet, so i want to have things in place to keep me on my shit! I’m open to accountability partners if anyone is down or whatever recommendations you guys have! Thanks 😁

Good luck! In my opinion, as a person who sometimes loses control when fasting and then go on a huge binge and feel like death… my advice is that you aren’t feeling 100% committed a certain day or week, don’t feel too bad bargaining with yourself to eat a little something. Especially at first, because going from eating a lot of food all day to a more serious schedule like you want to do is going to be rough for at least a week or 2. When you feel like you’re at a breaking point, it’s better to just eat a little something low-cal like some fruits or vegetables and then see how you feel.

TLDR: the first couple weeks are gonna be difficult, don’t let yourself get to a breaking point and erase your progress. Eating a little something is the better option in that case.

  1. Just don’t be so strict on yourself. If for example you eat one day and that was your refeed, but the next day you still want to eat something, just have a small meal again for that day. One thing i have to keep on remembering is that after i lose all this weight, i will have to maintain it which means compromise. I know for a fact that i will be eating things i want to eat. So why not practice controlling that now? Just be considerate and reasonable.

  2. Don’t be discouraged if after eating the scale moves up a pound or two, that’s usually something that would trigger me into binging. We’re all fasting. We’re not putting anything in our bodies and EVERYONE gets bloated after eating. The next morning into a fast that weight will most likely be gone again.

  3. Pay attention to how much better it feels to have a controlled, nourishing meal and how happy you feel knowing you’re on track, and keep going after that feeling. The first goal is health. The second goal (for me) is aesthetics. But who cares how good you look when you’re being unhealthy? Try to make your body feel good with everything you put in your mouth if you’re planning on putting it in your mouth.

I’ve been fasting for well over a year and i’ve only recently started to even start to reach my goals. This is a process! But you got this. Be real with yourself and your intentions with ever choice you make.
