Advice on Essential Vitamins?

[removed]

Answer

Vitamins, or supplements in general, are a tricky thing to get down, but it is easy enough for most people to get what they need from food alone. So long as you’re eating a variety of the right things like lean proteins, complex carbs, fruits/veggies, & healthy fats (while limiting sweets as well). It’s a cheaper (and tastier!) way of getting everything you need!

But if you’re like me and interested in supplements, go to your doctor and request full blood work to see where you’re currently at and ask if there’s anything they recommend for you. MY doctor suggested just a good multivitamin and fiber. For ME that is. YOU may need more or nothing at all!

Answer

Unless you’ve got a medically diagnosed deficiency, none of them. At best you’re pissing away money, at worst you’re causing toxicity with some vitamins.

A focus on a good quality diet—lean protein, a wide variety of fruit and veg, whole grains, fermented foods like yoghurt or kimchi, is the best idea to address nutritional shortcomings. Use the money you’d put into vitamins into better whole foods.

i would say if you’re having issues with energy, start going to the gym. it seems counterintuitive but there are many reasons why it can boost energy. also, imo, getting nutrients from food sources is best- maybe rethink your diet and start adding more colorful fruits and veggies in, less sugar, less alcohol, etc. although if youre in the north like me, a lil vit D with magnesium glycinate wouldnt hurt.
