Advice on Going Beyond 3 Days

I have tried a hard dry fast beyond 3 days but have been unsuccessful so far. I would like to push past the 3 day mark and I am in a unique position to do so right now. I have the next week completely free (no work responsibilities) and I'm not running high mileage (I was training for an ultramarathon this past year) due to a tendon injury in my foot. I would not only like to heal the tendon injury, but also heal my mind and spirit. In addition, I have family members who are going through great difficulties health-wise, and I would like to fast on their behalf with prayer and intention. Any advice you can give for extremely long dryfasts (4-5 days and beyond)? I plan on taking it real easy of course. I imagine the mental part is the most difficult, and is what I probably need help with. 🤔

Make sure you go into it properly hydrated. I’ve done the mistake of going into it slightly hungover but managed to pull through 5 days. Def made it harder on myself. Go into it properly hydrated, don’t think about the end but take it day by day. We actually said we were gonna go for 3, then went 4, then told ourselves we’re already here might as well go to 5 instead of restarting. Def set some intentions and keep your mind on your goals when it gets hard. Keep your mind busy as best you can with activities that stimulate it. I found i didnt really like to play video games, watch TV if it wasn’t something benefitting me. Meditation, light walking in the park. After day 3, try to not be in the sun almost at all if maybe for a few min if you really have to. I would get insomnia at night sometimes due to excess mental energy, so instead of playing games or watching something like normal, I would read as much as possible. Highly recommend it, download some books that interest you. My favorite thing to read about was actually anything on dry fasting, I spent alot of time reading about peoples experiences on this sub and off of it all over. The more you learn about the benefits and why youre doing this, the easier it is a little to keep at it when it gets a little rough. I have a few pdfs on dry fasting if you’d like a little reading material. I coincidentally just started a small couple day dry fast just a few hours ago. You got this! If ya only make it to three days don’t sweat yourself either! Each fast gives you more experience, somethin is somethin. Feel free to message and ill help where I can

Answer

Stay busy with low effort activities, a busy mind has less time to fixate on water/breaking your fast.

Walk, in early AM and very late PM, dewy grass, with your bare feet.

Deep breathes, with your mouth closed, focusing on the moment.
