Advice on plateaus and fasting break

Hey all. This community has been tremendously helpful to me and so thanks very much for that. I wanted to get some advice. Since beginning of January, I've been doing ADF and more recently (in the last month or so) have found it easy to transition to rolling 48 and 72-hour fasts. I've gone from around 206 pounds to 169 pounds since the beginning of January. Obviously, the weight loss has slowed down and I think I may have reached a bit of a plateau. Over the last 10 days, I've only lost \~3.5 pounds. My goal weight is 150 pounds (6 ft 2, 23 y/o male). I know 150 is underweight for that age and height, but I've been bodybuilding for awhile now and my preferred method is always to get very lean and then build up muscle/ramp up metabolism slowly. My question is - has anyone had any experiences breaking through plateaus with a fasting break. Thinking of giving it one or two more weeks and then eating at maintenance for a bit, then resuming. The slower weight loss could be a number of different factors, though (recently added coffee in the AM back in, switched from carnivore to eating a more mixed meal on my eating days including chicken thigh, avocado, a bit of rice and pita bread, hummus, etc). Thanks for all the help in advance!

Answer

That’s very dramatic weight loss for a month and a half, and 3.5 pounds in two weeks isn’t a stall or a plateau. You can stick with what you’re doing and have continued success at a more moderate speed or you can take a break and return. When you return from a break you’ll have an initial quick weight loss, but that will mainly be a result of losing the water weight you gained during your break, and then the weight loss will slow again. A plateau would be not losing or gaining a few pounds over several weeks.

Best of luck!
