Am I doing it right?

I eat breakfast at 9am and then eat only at 9pm. Between 12 hours only water and if I feel hungry I chew sugar free gum. I'm following this 12:12 for a week.

Answer

So, during one week, you have 14 periods of fasting around 11 hours.

Mostly when people do intermittent fasting, they aim for periods of between 16 and 20 hours fasting. So, if you ate at 9am and 5pm each day instead of at 9pm, you’d have 7 periods per week of around 16 hours fasting. That might be something to try.

(Edit: typo are -> ate)

Answer

I’m not an expert, but I don’t think that fits most people’s definitions of IF; however, you say nothing about what you are trying to accomplish. If if does what you need (weight loss, health improvement, etc.) then you do you. If it doesn’t do what you wish to bring about, then find more information and revise what you are doing.

Answer

Generally people give themselves a larger window to eat, but as long as you are remaining healthy and staying consistent your diet works and is a form of fasting.
