Any other people just taking it slow?

I see lots of posts/pictures here of people losing a lot of weight in very little time, but I've found that this approach just doesn't work for me. I restarted IF again in June last year, one year after my pregnancy. I have since only lost 6kg (about 13 pounds). It's not a lot, but by just taking it slow every day, I don't feel pressured and I'm less at risk of just giving up. I was curious if there are others who also take it slow and are making progress, just not as fast as what I mostly see here.

Answer

Currently I am. I have no idea if I’ve lost anything yet. But I know if I just rush it, I’ll give up. I’m currently 6 months PP from twins and the highest weight I’ve ever been. Currently I’m just trying to increase an hour or so a week with my fasting period until I’m able to get to a window that will be more beneficial.

I feel like the weight loss is kinda slow but it’s on me because I’ve been eating more than I should have been. And exercising more which is making me wanna eat everything in sight but damn it feels good so it’s a double edge sword. Lost six pounds since I started 2/2/23. 176lbs starting, at 170.8 now

As someone with minimal patience, and who is either “all in” or “all out” on nearly everything I do in life, I keep wanting to do more and to do it faster (do longer fasts! go keto! weight lift every day!).

But what works for me is making this eating pattern more passive and as comfortable as possible. I actually updated my goal weight to a higher one for now, so I can take the pressure off trying to lose as much as possible, as fast as possible.

Love to hear that you’ve recognized going slower works for you, and for sharing that in this sub so others can see it’s totally fine, and still impactful!

It might be different for everyone. What we could suggest is to exercise - at least a short walk every day can improve the results. Also, try to get a quality 7-9 hours of sleep every night and, of course - watch your nutrition, as eating too many calories or junk food will not help. Lastly, just give it time. Even 6kg down is better than 6kg up! Best of luck! 😊

I’ve been doing IF for over 2 years and I still have some more weight to lose. I treat it as a lifestyle change (versus diet) and am flexible with my fasting window when I need to be. IF has helped me to listen to my body.

I could be at my goal weight now if I cleaned up my diet, but restriction doesn’t work for me. I’ve been there many times, and it’s not sustainable. Instead, I focus on things like snacking less, making better food choices, cooking nutritious meals for my family, etc. My food tastes have changed over time, and I don’t eat as much junk as I used to.

Seeing progress posts on here is inspirational, but also disheartening. It’s hard to feel proud of losing 2 lbs in a month when others are dropping 20+ lbs. I try to remind myself that as long as the scale is going down, it’s progress. It’s okay to be a turtle.
