Any tips for minimising loose skin?

I need to lose about 30kg in total to get close to my ideal weight. That's about 65 pounds. I'm tall at 6'5 and carry a good portion of my weight on my belly, like most guys. I reckon 15-20kg of the 30kg I need to lose is on my belly! That's not a scientific assessment, just a subjective one :) Started intermittent fasting and keto and in two weeks I lost a little over 4kg. It's too early to see any loose skin yet but given that I have to lose about 20cm (8 inches) off my waist, I get the feeling I'll have some loose skin. Did anyone here use a regime while losing weight to minimise loose skin? Should I be using any creams, etc? I suppose it can't hurt.

Answer

Focus on the weight loss, that’ll be challenging enough.

IF apparently helps with loose skin.

I’ve lost 50-60 lbs in 4.5 months and I’m not dealing with loose skin yet, but I have been lifting regularly so that probably helped

Think u need to follow dr Jason Fung advice on this and many others extended fasts ideally going to 3 daysU need to get autophagy up and running else u end up with lots of saggy skin that needs surgical removal.

Joe, I would not worry too much about this. If you manage to stay lean for a couple of years, loose skin will be gradually reduced. What remains, you can probably fix by building some more muscle in the upper body. (widening of chest/shoulders will actually pull some of the skin upwards from midsection.)

Skin bounce is mostly age and genetics. You can get marginal improvements with fasting, skin care, lifting weights, derma rolling, but mostly it’s just age and genetics. Don’t worry, lose the weight, use any moisturizer you like and wait and see, might not have any loose skin at all.
