I work from home full time and have a 3 yr old. It’s difficult being steps from the kitchen at all times! And having to fix toddler meals so frequently. But once I get into a good rhythm of fasting and keto, I can cope a LOT better with daily struggles. Also I try to just give the toddler heathly/keto snacks: pickles, pepperoni, cheese, carrots, berries, etc. Then I don’t have to keep processed, binge-tempting food here (like goldfish, chips, teddy grahams, etc).
I’m a sahm, tho I find it’s not too difficult to avoid food when my husband is working. He usually leaves the house around 7 and gets back at 7:30. When he’s home, we tend to see eating as a social event or we go out with the littles and end up eating something while we’re out. My Mon-Fri fasting has been completely derailed by him being off work, but he goes back next Monday so that’ll help! (I’m currently doing OMAD)
We have a large family - 8 children (most 11-22, but two littles at 3 & 1) - and so the weekend is our time to head to the city and just focus on the littlest ones while the older ones get a break from us. :D
I do deal with food a LOT. I do the lunches in the morning when I have the best resolve and usually pop something for dinner in the crockpot. For evening snacking urges, I just stay busy – either with brainwork (learning coding) or distraction (game - Oxygen Not Included is awesome or Netflix). But during the day, without my husband home, I find it’s easy to just avoid the kitchen that I can easily avoid food. It’s so bizarre that its hard with him here.
My toddler is a crazy picky eater though so I do find myself having to spend LOADS of time in the kitchen with her for her meals because it’s at least 10 minutes of time in the high chair before she will even eat. I’ve started taking the laptop to the table and doing busywork while she squishes her peas or whatnot.
Peer pressure seems to be my issue so I guess I’m lucky I don’t work outside of the home right now! I gained up to 240lbs with balancing baby/work a few years back. I’m now in the 180s and hope to get down to 140.
I’m not a SAHM or a mom at all so I can’t relate to that part, but I’m a substitute teacher so I’m home all summer. It’s hard to avoid eating then so I go out as much as possible. I write as a hobby so I try to spend my mornings in the library doing that, sometimes until late if I can stand it. I know thats a hassle with kids but getting them out as much as possible (balancing the annoyance that must go along with having to pack them up and deal with all that) might help and be good for everyone :) even if it’s just the library or the park!
I am a SAHM but I find it can be harder when we go out more because if I take my kid out to eat I am totally jealous but if I make them something at home I feel like, well I could make that anytime if I want to eat it.
Like we went to a coffee shop today just as a place to feed the baby, my son had a smoothie, I had an americano but not gonna lie, wanted a cappuccino so bad or a mocha.
