Aromatherapy for sensory stimulation during fasting

Just wanted to share a hack that helps during OMAD. I don't get hungry anymore, but sometimes miss the visual and olfactory stimulation of meals. So it's a mental game for me. I just bought lemon, sweet orange and lavender essential oils from Whole Foods. I also have rose and geranium. Sometimes I just smear them over my arms and neck, and the fragrance is very pleasant. It seems to cut any cravings that I have, and really satisfies my need to smell something good that is not food. As I now have a minor cold, having these oils on me allows me to brighten up my aroma-deprived world and I really thinks it makes a difference.

Honestly,

this whole idea is just genius in my opinion. So creative too. Posts like this reminds me why I keep coming back to reddit once a day, in spite of not really having the time to spare.

I have known about the smell-satiety link, and smelling into a bag of chocolates, has been something I used for longer fasts in the past. It just never occurred to me that I could expand on it like you describe here. 🔥

Thanks for reminding me about essential oils being so helpful!

I’ve mixed a blend of lemon, grapefruit and peppermint EO in jojoba (or any other base oil) and it does help suppress appetite and seems to help break down fat a little. I just gently massage areas where I want to lose weight, for me it’s mainly belly fat.

Going to start using it again!
