I have tried fasting before and didn’t make it. Kept getting dizzy and light headed since I have hypoglycaemia issues even on a good day while eating normally.
Well I am happy to say I just successfully completed my first 36 hr fast! I guess technically it was “dirty fasting” since along with water I had 2 sips of juice and bone broth at the peak of it so that I didn’t fall down (had kids to look after so couldn’t faint). But I’m super proud of myself. I found it really hard, my stomach was eating itself from the inside lol. But I’m feeling great now. Great energy. Really glad I did it and while I am eating again now, I made sure I didn’t over do it after. I swear my stomach is smaller now as I can’t eat as much as before, I feel full quickly now and it seems to have kickstarted weight loss as the lbs keep coming off even now a week later. I didn’t fast just for weight loss, I wanted to help my insulin resistance and accelerate my body’s repairs and all the other benefits. Success feels good!
Answer
Great job. The first 2 days are the hardest for me, after that, I can easily get to day 5 which is my max because my acid reflux makes it impossible to continue.
Keep at it, you’ll notice it get easier each time
Answer
Good job!
Bare in mind, being hypo you may want to ease into extended fasting and try keto and IF first so that you can train your body to better burn fat (adaptation takes between 6-10 weeks).
This will help to minimize and eliminate hypo episodes in the future. Diving in headfirst can cause serious issues if your body has no sugar to burn and can’t burn fat well. Definitely a recipe to set you up for a hypo episode. Obviously your mileage may vary. Best of luck on your journey.
