Beginner: how to control the urge ?

I'm trying to start IF for a week. But in the evening after 9 pm, I feel hungry. Water gulping doesn't help either. I can't sleep if I am empty stomach. Any idea how do I overcome? Can I take nuts(almond, cashew, walnut anything?) I read wiki that says <50 cal should be ok. Is it same for fat heavy nuts as well ? What about diet coke ? I heard, it has artificial sweetner which might spike insulin anyways.

Answer

Eat more protein and fat at dinner time (and every other meal). Those are the things that you’re body wants to eat, so if you give your body enough of them it will leave you alone and stop prompting hunger signals

Answer

Unsweetened tea/sparkling water, look for ones that don’t use any artificial sweeteners. On the nuts you’re gonna get most people saying any calories will break the fast, but if you need them to help build up at the start than it’s better than nothing.

Honestly it’s gonna suck for a few weeks, hunger pangs and just the mental state of wanting food will make it hard so just gotta push through it in the end.

Answer

You need to experiment and figure out what works for you. I guess it’s different for different people. The pangs will go away with time. Pangs usually last for around 30-40mins (could be different for you).

You need to either power through or reduce your fasting time and slowly ease into it. Even now when I get a large break, I ease back into it.

When I started out, I used to get headaches with even a simple 16:8.

I’m not gonna comment on the Diet Coke since different people have different opinions on it, but I’ve one everyday after my meal.

Answer

i like to have a large cup of ginger tea if i’m feeling hungry. i order 100 count bags online and make it pretty strong. the warm water makes me feel full, settles my stomach, and the spicy ginger flavor sorta makes it feel like a meal.
