Benefits of walking when it’s not high intensity?

I’ve just walked 10km which was completely flat. I’ve heard conflicting things on here; some people have said unless you get your heart rate up there’s no benefit, but I see others incorporate walking into their fasting routine. What’s the deal? Are there benefits to walking or am I best off just doing 25 minute sprints?

Answer

There are always benefits to physical activity. Mental health, muscle and joint stretches, increase blood circulation, increased lung capacity, fresh air, routine, keeping busy, improved sleep and more are all addressed with basic walking.

I firmly believe that there are many benefits to walking while fasting. You are keeping your muscles active and training your body to burn fat more effectively when in a fasted state. I have been walking 1 to 2 hours everyday while fasting and I can really see my lower body shape up nicely. I think you could harvest the boost in adrenaline from fasting to sprint or do short bursts of faster walking however I do not think it’s necessary. The main thing is staying active while fasting, it helps with keeping hunger down and improves blood flow away from the stomach and helps warms the rest of the body. All the best.

Walking is awesome. Moves the body, calms the brain.

Prevents you sitting on your arse watching bullshit tv.

Would recommend 💯.

(You’ll often find people on subs like this who suggest if anything isn’t perfectly optimal then it’s shit. Fuck that. Something is better than nothing. Let them argue about the best way to ingest different types of salt. You do you and bask in that.)
