From what I’ve seen of be real, it is becoming more and more staged despite the devs’ efforts.
I think be real’s major attractive feature is that it suggests that pictures/videos posted on it are more representative of a day in the life because the two-minute burst is harder to prepare for.
I think your idea would fail to achieve authenticity in the same way as be real because it the nature of not eating for 90 % of your time means that you either need to prepare for your daily upload or risk most people not eating in the 2-minute window.
i would never use it but i don’t use any of that crap so im not really ur target audience. i bet you the general public would eat that up though. any chance to tell the world about their mundane shit and they are all for it. don’t quit ur job to make it though.
I don’t think what anyone eats is anyone else’s business except their own. We could all eat the same thing, everyday and we would all look and feel totally different. Different foods work for different people. And that’s ok 👍🏼
Do you have the resources to make the app? If not, this is a pointless question. If you do have the capability to make this app, ignore the people that point out potential flaws. Because the app doesn’t exist yet, it’s your job to navigate finding value for the app. Socializing healthy eating habits has tremendous value for modern adults. You can see it in certain social groups, but if you could expand that over the digital world it could reduce obesity in certain pockets of the country that have no local socialization of healthy eating habits. Good luck on your journey.
I really like this! Could be interesting in implementation and market sizing / fit. This is really speaking to people who are dieting / into health and fitness, not only that but beReal is very community based, its something you do with your close friends. You don’t get on beReal to have thousands of followers or cloutchase etc. If this app was to have a similar dynamic to that, you’re really scoping down your usership to people that are interested in health and fitness AND those people have to be in the same immediate community (friends). so imo you’re total addressable market wouldn’t be super huge if you were to follow the same strategy as beReal. I think there are alterations that could be made to make it a little more attractive though
From a users standpoint:
I don’t always eat 3 meals a day
I would find it quite annoying to have to type out a description, yet alone a recipe
I generally don’t have my phone on me when eating.. especially with my partner or family dinner
There are other apps that are the same idea (photos, recipe sharing, friends) like Gronda, Pepper & tasty
This could be a potential cause for eating disorders, especially in the younger generation
What you’re talking about is basically Instagram. Getting someone to actually food journal all of their meals every day is an incredibly difficult task to convince people to do. Nutritionists everywhere know.
All through covid lockdown over here all I did was send close circle of friends what I was eating. They never complained or anything but I never got sent a meal back. Was hoping to see some of their meals rather than asking like a weirdo.
