Boredom

My main challenge with fasting is the absolute boredom of ignoring a meal time. I know I can read, craft, write, walk, etc but what's a good mantra when I feel discouraged by the void of flavors, chewing, camaraderie? What can I tell myself when I'm feeling sorry for myself for not enjoying a meal? Anyone have any ideas? The hunger pangs are much easier to endure and overcome. I get jealous of others enjoying food and that's when I cave.

Answer

When I was younger I first learned a fasting to our church. They taught me when I was older fasting was a great way to grow closer to God. They said the more you hunger the more you crave God. Now I don’t fast for religious reasons but I do use this method to keep me on track. The more I hunger the more I desire to be healthier.

Call it brainwashing but it works for me.
