I had the same issues last night haha. I just kept turning for like an hour and eventually I went to sleep.
Btw I stopped my dry fast too! I commented on your first post and said I was going to do it with you, went about 4 days. Below are my stats, curious to see them after I Refeed.
SW: 290 CW: 271 GW: 200
It’s the main problem I have when fasting, sometimes even after a day or two. I don’t think there is anything can be done - cortisol levels are jacked up so high.
I put ancient music on and visualise the good life and the hunt.
My recommendations:
First, take a hot shower, and turn your AC down lower before you get in the shower so it’s cooler when you go back to bed. Next, listen to a podcast or video that is really boring / easy to fall asleep to – something that won’t have any loud noises to wake you up. Something like Sleep With Me (start it about 25 mins in to avoid the sponsored stuff he talks about).
Ah man! That sleep issue is always a bitch. I just usually get up and try to do something slightly productive. When I water fast, I take melatonin sometimes but with dry fasting (especially hard dry) there’s not a lot you can do. You did great anyway! Good luck next time!
Bad luck, you can always try again if you want to. You won’t feel very tired at all when dry-fasting and will only sleep a little. Try and dig deep into YT or streaming services to find amusing content; read if that suits you, if it does then you’re sorted because reading takes all the time in the world. Cold water immersion, preferably in natural bodies of water, will make you feel good and go some way to ameliorate the distress and boredom and cabin-fever. Wim Hoff’s free app has an awesome easy breathing exercise that I’ve found helps a lot with settling down for sleep when dry-fasting—I’ve almost fallen asleep during the exercise before actually—try it with your feet up high against a wall lying on your back, very relaxing. Warm baths do a lot to ease any nausea or discomfort I feel when dry-fasting and again I’ve almost fallen asleep in there when dry-fasting before, essential oils in there sometimes can be very soothing. I find lots of ideas and questions arise in my mind when I’m dry-fasting, about diet or lifestyle or bits and bobs, so quite a lot of time is taken up researching these things on my Ipad.
I thought I was weird but sleep is tough for me with dryfasting. Stress is high with work right now. I am only 7 hrs in and can’t sleep. The good news is only 41 to go.
Is it better to just get up and work on my computer or force my self to sleep? I hope day 2 is better. I need my sleep for sure.
I thought fasting helps with sleep! Maybe after I go through 24 it will be better.
