Can I swim in the sea during a dry fast?

I'm about to do a dry fast and am wondering, "Can I swim in the sea instead of walking?" Dr Filinov says that showering is okay as long as no water enters the mouth. I prefer to swim bc it is easier on the joints and feet and more cooling in the hot summer weather now too... Thanks!

Answer

IMO, a “hard” dry fast is pointless. If your body does absorb any water it is transdermal and therefore not touching your digestive system. Your body can put so much effort into autophagy because your digestive system shuts down. Transdermal absorption won’t effect that.

There is humidity in the air we breathe too. Water certainly enters your system that way too. The amounts are so small as to be irrelevant.

Fasting is challenging enough without adding this nonsense to it. Brush your teeth! Wash your hands. Take a shower. Please, you stink. 😎

Does anyone know where the Hard Dry Fast theory originated?
What study / evidence is there that the body soaks up water and at how many hours in on a Dry Fast would this happen?
Personally, I have done dry fasting for 96 hours and during, I weighed myself before and after showering with no differences/changes at all…. Anyone have any experience?

Answer

Since the saltwater is hypertonic to your extra cellular fluid it would be more likely to draw water out of you than put water into you.

This is assuming the “absorbing water like a sponge” thing is true which is isn’t it’s poppycock
