Cautionary tale for beginners

RESPECT REFEED! Water fasted 48 hours then switched to dry fast 24 hours to speed up the process (I fast for depression purposes and I needed to expedite the process) Started my refeed with an avocado and broth from homemade Chanko Nabe, waited an hour and ate chicken quarter cut. My supplements were still in the mail so my refeed process was shotty at best but after this food I felt fine, motivated. Hit the gym mega hard went thru 2 regular bottles of Kirkland water from Costco then bought a liter of essentia water. It was at this point I made a serious mistake, I went to the park and ate 2-3 servings of that chanko nabe soup veggies ground beef and chicken. I originally planned to only eat 1 serving but decided the morning refeed was plenty enough to get my metabolism where I wanted it, I was horribly wrong. Few hours later I had a feeling in my gut like I wanted to puke but couldn’t, it was also hard to swallow, my nose started running like crazy, I just ignored it and started chilling playing games while sipping the essentia. Suddenly I had a heart palpitation and a wave of panic with dizziness hit me like a truck. It was at that moment I knew, I fked around and found out. The rest of the night was filled with heart arrhythmia and panic being managed by nothing more than mere meditation, controlled pacing, and fetal position to manage blood flow. I DO NOT RECOMMEND anybody ignore these signs go to the ER immediately if you’re in this situation. I don’t have the money for it so I rolled the dice, I knew I have a healthy BMI and high body fat percentage I’m also 25 with no blemishes on my medical history and Ive been getting in shape the past month. My thought process was my body will figure out it has reserves in my fat and the ketones I accumulated will hold me over until I can go to the store the next day and get electrolytes. I GOT LUCKY. It was absolute hell, walked to my local CVS in the morning and bought a nutritional protein shake with all essential minerals. It was pain even sipping that, took me almost 2 hours to finish but I finally had a bowel movement and the symptoms started to subside. Slowly incorporated broth and fish throughout the day, managed to eat an apple an hour ago so I think I’m in the clear just a little shook. I don’t care if you guys berate me or downvote me for being a dumb ass I’m still newer to this and I learned a lot hopefully others will learn from this too. From now on I’ll be starting every fast hard dry 24-48 hours then switching to water fast with essential electrolytes. Respect the refeed don’t be me, I literally scoffed when I read I should give it 1-2 days refeeding “pffft I’m not even fasting very long that’s bull shit.” WRONG.

What the F

I can’t believe you’re ever going to dry fast again after experiencing that. You only have one body and one life dude be careful for your own sake. This isn’t for everybody and everyone reacts different to such an extreme measure being taken.

Keep in mind there is a live chance that this was a result of dry fasting and not what you ate during your refeed. Don’t let any wanna be biased internet doctors on here convince you otherwise. Also keep in mind only SOME people need to be careful with what they refeed with. Plenty including myself can refeed with whatever we want and be just fine. Hence everyone being different.

Answer

Glad to hear you are okay. The refeed is so crucial yet probably the most overlooked. The refeed is where we have to be really really gentle on the body. One time like this is enough to shock you into more awareness though.

On a side note, I do wet to dry and have no issues personally though I know Dr. Filinov claims it’s hard on your system.
