You may get a debate here, because some people can use artificial sweeteners and succeed. A lot of us know that sweet things are a huge issue and go to great lengths to avoid adding in that trigger. The “science” of triggering an insulin response gets talked about a lot here. Are you asking your body to deal with something (the Splenda) or do you want to continue letting your digestive system have time off to do other work?
I’m in the cult of black coffee. I think it’s the cornerstone of this whole fasting game. So my recommendation is that you learn to drink black coffee.
I have been OMAD for a month now and understand the desire for something sweet in your caffeine. I’ve seen lots of debate about cream/no cream, artificial sweet/no sweet and I compromised with no sweet/with cream. After a few days, I don’t miss the sweet at all. Your body adjusts when you stop ingesting sweet things and it became a non-issue quickly. I keep the cream to a minimum and have not had any issue losing weight. But I think the most important thing is to pay attention to how you feel. If the artificial sweetener makes you stick to IF and you’re still getting results, go for it. But if the sweet triggers you to want food during fasting or prevents you from your goals, adjust. Good luck!
