Consistency

I am trying fasting for the first time, and considering I never done it I am not doing too bad. The only thing am worried about is that I am not consistent with the window, I don’t break my fast though, currently doing 16/8, but sometimes because of work, having meetings and what not, my fast are longer. So instead of 16 hours, 16.5, 17 and even 18 hours of fasting. This makes it so my fasting window is never the same. Does this have an adverse effect? I do have to say, I haven’t felt as good as i p do now in a Long time. In two weeks already lost 4 lb, one inch off my waist.

Answer

It’s fine. My eating window is from 11am to 7pm, but I don’t have to start eating at 11, I can start an hour or more later. The important thing for me is to end my eating window at 7pm.

And don’t let perfection get in they way of progress. You don’t have to be exact. There’s no IF police monitoring you. Do the best you can for your goals.

Answer

Thank you. I appreciate it. Because I sometimes work late, I can’t concentrate on the time to stop eating, rather making sure I meet my daily goal. I am not trying to lose a lot of weight. Only about 5-7 pounds. But i had to stop working out because of back issues for about a year or so. Doing better now, but during that time and being that I am already in my 40’ the weight I gained went all to my abdominal section. So trying to lose that while maintaining a healthy weight. In other words, I need to make sure I eat healthy meals during my eating hours.

Answer

Don’t stress the windows sure…you marginally swing some benefits. Big deal.

Look at it this way…of you have an 8 hour eating window and target 6 pm but eat at 5pm one day…that’s 15 hours. If you eat at 6pm the following day…that’s 17 hours…you’ve averaged 16.

The beauty of IF is the flexibility. I’m all over the map….it’s about generalities. I might omad, that 16/8, then 20/4. Heck…sometimesi dont at all. Point is…im fasting overall.

Personally…I am of the opinion that creating inconsistencies is good…so your body is becoming better at adjusting
