Countdown started + question, what can you do on the quit-day?

Day 5 of 5 have started! :) I have been torn between temptation to prolong it and obsessing about drinks and food. Decision at this point is to not prolong it since it is not recommended to go more than 5 days at home alone, also I am really looking forward to eating again, a bit afraid I will get TOO obsessed with food and gain weight overeating during the refeed. I am already almost counting the minutes before I can eat again and dreaming about ice coffee and kinda bad stuff like that... :P I think there has possibly been healing of an old virus-made meningitis, been super wobbly so I have spent most time in bed. A bit better today I think, it swapped to other aches and pains, but I do not dare to walk far from home just in case. Edit: This is my 3rd fast in 2 months, have done one 4,5 days, one 3 days and now this 5-days (12,5 days total) mainly for health benefits. I really hope "something" in the back of the nose will go away, possibly remains from covid (twisted/poor smell and taste), or maybe polyps or even a tumour, do not know really other than it has been really irritated and the smell-thing. Should look it up of course but at first I thought it was just a side effect from quitting really strong "snus" (nicotine). Also beginning RA/PA (autoimmune arthritis), but guessing this will not be long enough to stop it. Anyhow, so the decision is to stop tomorrow at 11-12 am, since it is exactly 120 hours from start. A bunch of friends invited me to a park-party, like playing mini golf and probably drinking beer and hitting the town later. I was thinking maybe I can go, but either stay sober or stick to like a couple of diluted wine drinks or something like that, and skip the pubs? What do you think would be safe to do? Either way I will try to stay strict with the initial water-refeed, I mean for the first 4 hours or so.And time-wise: do you think it would make much difference if I stop a couple of hours earlier tomorrow, for instance as soon as I get up (probably like 8-10 am) so I will have a bit more time to become human again before the evening? **Edit, the ending, update:** I ended the fast after 5 days, a couple of hours early if counting whole 24 hour days but I say close enough. Right now I do actually have a joint still aching, but it is not a "big" area for me where I am usually bothered, I feel it more now than I do normally. My "big" issue in the foot (likely RA) does not hurt at the moment but it usually comes back as soon as I eat something bad, not really sure what the body considers bad but definitely gluten, so beer is my usual weakness :P My nose/gums/sinuses which was the biggest focus area for me actually feels good atm \*knock on wood\*, I really hope it will last! :) So time to try to restrain myself and do a good refeed. Initially it was just hydration, now going for like tomato soup with bone broth, kefir, with some easily digested solid food on the side in small portions for a couple of days. Then I intend to try and remain low sugar/fairly low carbs (like 50-ish/day), and introduce more stuff but start with the easier to digest. Weight result was around -6,5 kg in 5 days, or -7,5kg at the lowest reading. Guessing I will gain most of it back, but hoping it will only be a couple of kilos (yeah, right). I was pending on the overweight BMI when I started. This run was the easiest so far, not at all saying it was easy but the first run was incredibly aweful lol. I was mainly tired, a bit wobbly and overall very weak, made it hard to do stuff, but the pains was not that terrible and my mouth and eyes never felt very dehydrated, I kept my mouth shut, lol! So maybe I will have the confidence to plan a 7 days sometime this summer. Overall I think I am gonna be happy with the results from this run, but too early to tell.

You know your body better than anyone, so if your body says its time to stop, then you should. Since you’re trying to get rid of a sinus/medical thing, you would want to go as long as possible. The Russian dry fasting doctor says your body goes through significant authophogy on day 5 and again, heavier, on day 9. So if this fast is the fast to be the end all be all for your condition, stick it out. However, thats really hard and 10 days is something to work up toSocial engagements are fun. I did a 3 day fast and after a glass of water and half a sangria, I was absolutely sloshed. Im sure its terrible on the liver and kidneys to add alcohol so quick while your body’s refeeding. So, in terms of health, skip the booze.

Hi. Congrats. I think after a 5 day dry fast it is better to introduce foods very slowly and not eat anything processed or sugary for a while. From what I’ve read a lot of the healing happens in the refeeding and rebuilding process.I basically follow the program from the Phoenix Protocal book.I would personally skip the event to avoid to avoid temptation but if you think you would be eating those foods anyways bc the temptation is too strong maybe it doesn’t matter. One thing I have learned is that the discipline during the refeeding is more challenging than the actual fast so just like setting my mind state ahead of time to go a full 5 days I set my mind state that I will be having only broths for a few days after and only small amounts of real unprocessed foods for at least another few days after that. The recovery process is twice as long as the fast so I try to eat as clean as possible during that period. If you go in with that mind state it makes it a lot easier. It’s like right when you get close to the bathroom after holding it, all of a sudden it’s an emergency. You’re mind might already be to set this time but something to think about for your next fast.

going to that social event sounds like your highest priority and who knows you might be able to inspire those friends into trying a dry fast.a word of caution to only have a very low amount, less than 10% volume of alcohol because you will be very sensitive and no one knows how long it will take for you to sober up thereafter.you might see the healing results you’re after once you fast over 150 hours. for me fasting day 5-6 days was relatively the same healing until i went more than 150 hours

I agree. I eat mostly Carnivore and the advice from Filonov is vegetarian and a lot of carbs. I just take Filonov fasting advice but re-feed on mostly carnivore and blueberries but small amounts at a time. I think the most important thing is eating real foods and not a lot of sugar. Each fast in learn a little bit and get better at refeeding properly. The first few fasts I had no control.

Yeah those are good ideas. I do similar things like mix coconut oil, carob powder and honey. That’s decent. There’s a lot you can do with coconut oil and coconut milk to make keto friendly desserts.
