In 45 minutes ill cross into day 3 dry. I must say I do not feel like I am going to die or anything. Last night I got some very rejuvenating sleep! I zonked out for 4 hours, woke for a bit, then 2 more hours, then I slept in short very deep intermittent sessions, sleeping and waking repeatedly. I would have slept longer if I did not have to work. Weight before staring the fast was 169 now 159 this morning.
I urinate regularly but in small amounts. Cotton mouth seems to vary in intensity but it is not as bad as day one. The absolute worst thing is how slow time seems to pass. My work day drags ass!
I do get the occasional hunger pang but not as often as a water fast. I get occasional headache but they are mild and short term. Also not as bad as a water fast.
I am 6 hours into day 3. I felt groggy all day until about 6 pm. Suddenly I felt my energy and mental acuity return. I am wondering if the first acidic crisis already passed on day one, hence the sleepless night. I slept but woke up a lot! Filonov says that sleeplessness is a symptom of the first crises. Bening that my first day of dry was my 2nd day of fasting total its possible I got it to kick in on day one dry. Given several 2-10 day water fasts and on previous 2.5 day dry, I have to say dry is easier overall! By this time water fasting I typically get some god awful hiccups and intermittent light headedness. None of that so far. I also feel more resistence to the temptation to eat. I don’t feel hungry.
My skin is feeling unusually soft. My acuity in hearing and smell increased. I am urinating in small amounts still but more frequently now. Cotton mouth is still present but much less intense than before. I barely feel thirst now.
I want to go for 11 days. I am thinking to continue the fast longer even as a water fast. 11 days dry will be 11 days total and I would be half way to 20 days.
I read an interesting article on Filonov’s website. It was from another Russian Doctor that was researching water fasting. I think such is where Filonov got the idea about having two acidic crises. He said that for most of the fast the tongue will have a white film coating which I have for sure. He said when that disappears and the tongue is a healthy red color with no film. Its a good time to end the fast. It makes sense because its a sign about all the detox that can happen is complete. I thought it would be a good marker.
At 3 pm I will cross into day 4. Since 5 am I urinated 4 times. 10 ounces total. So only passing 2-4 ounces at a time. My ketones were high before bed but moderate this morning. My weight is down to 156. My cottonmouth while still present is noticeably less intense and I am quite comfortable!
My weight is down to 153. Last night was rather pleasant. I felt very comfortable. I did some meditation outside at night. My mouth began to salivate quite a lot and my cottonmouth disappeared. This morning is the opposite, I have the worst cottonmouth so far. Last day of the work week! Got to press on!
I crossed into day 5 about 6 hours ago. My bodyweight is 151. So I have lost 18 pounds so far. I am ambivalent about today. I woke up with the worst cotton mouth thus far. But it went away as soon as I got out of bed. I took a cold shower and headed off to work fairly energized. About an hour in my heart rate started to go up. I was really irritable and had a hard time with focus and reading comprehension. My HR has been about 60-72 bpm while sitting at a desk but today was between 96-108 mostly. And did get up to but did not clear 120. I thought I was going to have to abandon ship. But right about the time I crossed into day 5 my heartrate went back down and my mood and focus returned to normal. Despite being grouchy I have had no headaches at all today. The cottonmouth seems to fluctuate between the least its been, with acute flare ups at the worst its been.
Now that I am home I am feeling the most lethargic as of yet. I also feel hot. Not like a fever but just generally on the warm side. Me urination is still frequent but volume is reducing. I checked my urine for ketones since day 3 and ketones have dropped from large to moderate. The plaque coating on my tongues is still present but seems to be lessening.
I think when the plaque is gone its a good sign a lot of cleansing has happened. I think ketones dropping should be expected and when they get to trace or negative its a sign to end the fast for sure but who knows how long that could take. I heard a doctor who had cancer patients doing water fasting for over 40 days and that was their method to end it as its a sign of too little body fat. Since dry fasts burn fat much faster I expect that would happen much sooner. Estimating with the US Navy method I started at 19% and I am down to 15% bf. So its almost a rate of 1% bf a day for me. I figure given the pattern I could go about 15 days. My goal is to go as far as possible safely. I do find myself thinking about juice. I am craving a lemon cayenne kevita drink more than anything I ever drank. In fact I went and bought 4. I thought about not to avoid temptation but I want to be happy when I break this thing.
So my goal is minimum 7 days. Ideally 12-15 days. I may just stay on liquids to make it a 21 day total fast. Idk. Just ideas for now. I will end it if I stop urinating, get too high a heart rate. Or stop pissing ketones.
