So far so good. The breakfast cravings today are coming in strong but manageable. What started as a strict OMAD I think is slowly become a 20:4. I’ve been really needing some sort of snack after working out on my lifting days so I’ve been munching on one 130cal energy bite, just so I don’t get too shaky. Which is fine, I’m trying to avoid placing too much anxiety on not being completely OMAD. Cutting out breakfast and a full lunch is not as hard as I thought and I do feel the benefits already: better sleep, better digestion (aka better poops 💩) and more energy.

A plus is I’m really reconnecting and diving back into coffee and tea, which has been delightful.

Trying to make it to day 7 and see what happens!

Answer

I’m just starting on a 7 day water fast so it’s my first day. My longest was a 3 day fast and I’m looking to try and see if I’d be able to stay discipline with the fast.

The festive Chinese New Year is coming up and I wanna lose some weight to feel better in the new clothes I’ll be buying as well as trying to look better during family gatherings. It’s the first year that I’ll be meeting my girlfriend’s extended family so there’s added pressure of trying to look better.

My only worries would be me feeling like giving up due to temptations since the weekends are coming and when you have free time, you have more free time to be craving for food. My other concern would be just maintaining electrolytes, I’m not sure if I’ll have to drink water with some light salt.

Wish me luck!

Fasting with water and black coffee, started on the 2nd of January, 16:8 (but trying to make it to 20 today).

I started because at 6ft, I was 237 lbs and want to get back under 200. I feel okay, but it kind of feels like I’m quitting smoking again, like, I can make it through the day, but I have to be constantly thinking about it. I’m hoping it takes less focus once I get used to it.

Answer

This is my first attempt and it’s kind of working out to be 16/8 but with milk coffee in the mornings. I made the mistake of also restricting to 800cal while doing long daily walks so at the end of day 2 I have been SO hungry and feeling ‘floppy’ . I decided this was not how it should be - so I ate more this eve. Mainly I am noticing that I have to find something else to do other than snack after dinner. I’m 10kg overweight (BMI 26.9) which is the most I’ve ever been. None of my clothes fit me, my hip measurement is 15cm more than what works for me. It’s only because I’ve sat around and over eaten during 2021 covid. I’m aiming to lose the 10kg by early April.

A return to IF after the holidays. I’m trying 21/3 because why not?

IF has helped me many times throughout my life, I’ve lost the last of the pregnancy weight this way four times. IF is easiest for me in the morning so I start my fast after dinner.

My challenge is snacking in the evening. I hope to eliminate this for maintenance after what I anticipate to be 6 weeks of IF.

Tip: I don’t count something ~100 calories if I’m close to the end of my fast. Grace for the win!

Answer

On day 1 of my first 16 hour fast. I’ve tried this before with mixed results, but I found an app (Body Fast) that I feel will help a ton. Also im at the highest weight of my life, including when i was pregnant, and have a BMI of 35. About a third of my Weight was gained in the last 2 years, it’s so awful. But I’m in my 30s, so I feel it’s now or have awful health issues the rest of my life.

Back on the wagon! I had a very emotional December thanks to [tiktok voice] emotional trauma [/tiktok voice]. Let myself off the hook due to some disordered eating habits I’d cultivated last year… and rather than risk getting back into food-obsessive habits, I’m coming back to IF.

Gonna kick some 17:7s until the hunger monster retreats enough for me to get back to OMAD or ADF. Here’s to a healthy 2022!

Type: 16/8
Context of fast: on day 3
Length of fast: 8 hours
Why? I’m looking to lose weight while easing back and knee pain

Notes: I’m so hungry. I was woken up at 4am by my 4 month old, my last bit of food was at about 10pm. I had a really rough day yesterday, I left the house at 530am for work and didn’t get back home until nearly 8pm. I felt like crap because I didn’t get to see my kid at all yesterday since he goes to be at 7-730pm. it was a really busy day at work and I was hungry all day. Hopefully today goes better that yesterday.

Answer

anyone fast once a week? i ate 9 hours after waking up last week and i kinda liked it cuz i can forget about food for a bit. im kinda bored of my home cooked low glycemic index food so a break from thinking about food is a relief.

gonna do it again tomorrow since its my rest day so i wont need to care about having energy. but idk is it wise to do a day after a good workout. something about needing protein? but fasting a day before also would never fit cuz if youre active youre doing some kind of exercise almost everyday. even if its just stretching and some indoor body weight exercises.

Answer

I did IF in 2019 before starting a family. I don’t know why I thought it would be harder with a child, but I actually find 16:8 far easier than I did before. Why? Because I don’t have time to prepare her breakfast and my breakfast anyway. She has her breakfast while I have my coffee. I break my fast when she gets up from morning nap and it’s time for lunch. I used to meal prep her food and then have something of my own later, but as she approaches toddlerhood she’s decided that the food on mom’s plate is far more interesting than whatever mom prepared for her…. so I have some built in portion control since about 1/4 of anything I serve myself will be ultimately consumed by the munchkin. This also means that if I want her to eat healthy things (like a side of butternut squash with grilled cheese instead of chips) then go figure, those healthy things need to be on my plate too. Family dinner time is still a work in progress because she goes to bed early, but I’m hoping that in the next few weeks we can shift to a 6 pm family dinner, which I guess makes my fasting window start earlier.

Answer

Debating on how to approach fasting again. It was really easy for me to fast in college when I had a ton of things to do I lost almost 40 lbs and then the panny hit. I made a conscious decision to not weigh myself… and now two years later I have gained it all back.

I have been trying to stay consistent but I live at home and my parents don’t keep the healthiest foods. I don’t have a job yet so not a lot of structure in my day. I am debating trying OMAD bc I just graze all day out of boredom and then have dinner with my parents. Personally I am hungry at night and dinner is probably my heftiest meal. Not sure if I can last all day with out eating though. So the other option I was thinking was keeping a ton of low calorie snacks to snack on until dinner since I can naturally do 16/8 at this point.
