Nearing the end (at 22 hrs) of one of my bi-weekly 24 hour fasts.

Getting pretty hungry now that I’ve finished work but will go for a run to pass some of the time - excited about the lentil Dahl I get to have after though!

Week 11

Doing OMAD today. I’ve noticed that I lose weight way faster with OMAD’s. Sometimes it’s a bit demotivating to see all the people that lose a lot and very fast. But i’m sticking to it and I know the scale will go down more and more.
I’ve also read that woman lose weight slower in the second half of their cycle, and that’s where I am now.

Going to break my fast with Mexican inspired food with avocado and beans.

Day3 of Week27, IF, 18/6

SW: 104kg/229lbs; CW: 88kg/194lbs; GW: 85kg/187lbs

Today 87,1kg maintained from yesterday.

Currently on the rolling 24h that will be wrapped up with a fried chicken breasts plus steamed veggies dish and the prefeeding meal will be pork roast tortilla-sandwich with sweet chili and cheese.

Tomorrow after said breakfast will mark the start of the weekly 48h fast.

Hyper-busy day here today so that’ll be all for today :P

It is midweek, folk. Turning the corner toward the weekend!:)

Week 4: Day 3, IF, 36 hour fast

SW: 66.13kg/145.8lbs; CW: 61.51kg/135.6lbs; GW: 47.6kg/105lbs

I hit the ten pound mark! I am so excited! I’m still at the heaviest I’ve ever been, but only by three pounds. 132 was my maintenance weight last year (though this year we’re going to surpass it!)

I can’t wait to feel like myself again.

IF has been a saving grace. There are some moments where the cravings challenge me, but overall it’s been amazing. Even right now, I’m 45 hours into my 36 hour fast and I’m not tempted to end it yet. I will end it in a little with some Greek yogurt and protein, and then I’m going to make a sloppy Cajun Shrimp dish I’ve been craving, then back on the wagon!

Started a bit over 2 months ago with 16:8, which has been going awesome and I’m sitting at 9kg/20lbs lost now!

Have stretched the fast until 18 hours a couple times, but today I am trying to last until dinner at my parents tonight. So basically my first attempt at OMAD today! On 20.5 hours fasted now, and starting to get quite hungry, but just 1.5 hours until I get dinner so I think I’ll make it!

If it works out good, I think I am going to incorporate OMAD for occasions where I know dinner will be a bit heavier or some wine/beer will be involved! 🤣

Answer

16:8, six weeks in. SW 97.7kg/215lb, CW 91kg/200lb. I measure every two weeks or so, there was a bit where I plateau’d in between, but overall it’s good. I’d probably lose more if I exercised tbh. The biggest change was eating slowly: it’s so hard! But it really helps.

No changes in body appearance. For a while I began to imagine I was putting on weight and swelling up somehow 🫠

Day 1 for me and I’m new to this sub! I’m doing 16:8. My 16 hours just ended as I am writing this but I think I won’t eat for another 1.5 hours because I have a meeting coming up. My CW is 131 lbs. and my GW is 125 lbs. so not too much to lose but I’m hoping to get rid of this stubborn menopausal belly fat. Also looking forward to the increased energy and productivity! The morning fasting isn’t so hard for me but NOT SNACKING might do me in!

Answer

I’m doing 16:8, counting calories, exercising (walks, 30-40 minutes on the elliptical, stretching), and I am wrapping up my second month of IF. My highest weight was 216, just weighed in at 208.6, hoping it will continue to trend down.

I’m super frustrated by the seemingly slow progress. I’m doing 1500 calories/day, plus exercise, plus IF, and I’ve only dropped 8 pounds. I’m so happy for everyone that sees massive drops in a short/similar amount of time. At the same time, I feel like everything I’m doing is not worth the effort. Does that make sense?

I know everyone has different results, and even “just” losing 1-2 pounds a week is good. I gained 30 pounds over the last 3 years (Covid lockdowns meant my hot yoga studio closed, and now I moved somewhere that the closest hot yoga studio is several hours away), and want to get back to my pre-Covid weight or better. It would be really encouraging to have a big drop to make all of my current efforts feel worthwhile.

Anyhow, I’m 5’8”, CW is 208.6, GW is 175. I’ve got so many cute clothes that I want to wear again!

Answer

first time “seriously” doing fasting, in combination with a new workout routine. Day 3 of 16:8, 12pm to 8pm is my window.

I find myself thinking on nothing besides food and how hungry I am in the hour or so before noon. And I find myself getting hungry in the evening before going to bed.

Hanging in there though! Drinking LOTS of water and staying focused on work.

CW: 230 lbs. GW: below 200

26 yo male

Any tips or advice is much appreciated

Hi everyone, I’ve really enjoyed perusing this subreddit. I’ve had some good success with IM over the past year. I like to workout first thing in the morning, and I’ve been just delaying eating until lunch time-ish (16/8 or 18/6). But I’ve been reading up on the benefits of the post workout protein smoothie for weight loss, muscle building, general health. I was wondering if anyone doing IM has incorporated that into their early morning post workout. If so, are you just not eating dinner or eating super early? TIA.

Answer

Just finished my first 48hr water fast! F25, 180 pounds, goal weight: 125. I have PCOS.

Tbh, I can see why people are able to go for 72 hours. Fasting like this really takes you to another place. You have energy, but you dont have the energy for stupid stuff that isnt worth your time. I had a lot of energy to think and learn.

It feels so good knowing I did it for my health. I broke my fast on an avocado (along with baked beans and ezekiel bread), and avacado has never tasted so good to me. It was just WOW.

I feel so luxurious, like I just did something amazing and beautiful for my body. I have hope I’ll see the scale move down when I weigh in on Sunday. I’m really just aiming for a pound a week, but now I’m hoping it’ll be 2 pounds this week:)

Gaining weight has made me feel so trapped in my body. I felt like I had no options, no way to escape. I have binge eating disorder caused by pcos, so I’ve been overeating for years. I was 108 pounds at 18, and with two pregnancies, my weight has skyrocketed.

I feel actual hope. I feel like fasting just makes sense, and it works for me. Ive been doing OMAD off and on to lose weight over the years, and it’s literally the only thing that has ever worked. And realizing I can push my limits to 48 hours? WILD. I can lose weight just by laying in bed lol that’s incredible.

The thing is: the hunger doesnt get worse. It just doesnt. There were a few parts where I was overwhelmed and stressed and hungry, and I was terrified I was doing something terrible. But then lol 30min later: I felt totally fine. Content, full, energized, peaceful.

Things I learned: I HAVE to drink salt water to keep my electrolytes up. I was so grossed out by the idea, but when youre that dehydrated, you cant even taste the salt lol. It just tastes GOOD. Dry fasting is easier for me, but I’m clearly going to have to transition and learn to keep on top of drinking salt water earlier on.

It’s also stressful, ngl. It’s a lot to put your mind thru. I tensed my jaw a lot. I def felt like I was in survival mode. I’m hoping as I get more practice, I’ll feel less anxious. I have anxiety to begin with that I use emotional eating to cope with, so itll be a learning curve!

Honestly, this has been such a beautiful, empowering experience. I feel INCREDIBLE. And I’m one week closer to reaching my goals—something I never thought I’d get to again.

I had awesome success with IF in the past (doctor recommended it 9/2020, lost about 15 lbs to 140). Fell way off track and ballooned up to my heaviest weight yet (+30 lbs to 170).

I have been more mindful about what I’ve been eating and recently started IF again since the LoseIt app now tracks it! I am currently on my first 25+ hour fast. I plan to have dinner tonight and then start at least a 16:8 schedule daily. I’ll probably throw in a longer fast at least once a week (my husband is busy on Tuesday nights, so that would naturally be a good time to skip a meal and add to my IF time!)
