I’ve only been doing 16h/18h fasts for 3.5 weeks but I’m losing steam. The first 2 went great, my tops started fitting a bit better, all was good.. then week 3 was mostly ok but social life & irregular work hours got in the way and the last few days have been a bit of a disaster. I still do 16h fasts but my eating window ends up being like 9-10h sometimes because I eat and then have hours of things (works or social events) where I have no access to any food or snacks and then get home absolutely starving and end up having to eat.. I can’t do OMAD because I literally can’t consume enough calories in my one meal window and will end up hungry anyway. Ugh! Anyway I need to get back on track so this is just a mini rant.
I have been fasting for only a week. Today is the first day when I’m desperately awaiting the opening of my window. I have been closing my window between 4 -5 pm and fasting for 16-17 hours. Yesterday I opened my window later and closed it later. Yet I’m hungrier.
I am determined to get to 16 hours this morning.
I’m a 56F in very good health. I’m a 5/7” and trying to shave off those last five pounds. My big motivation is I’ve got a wedding in Hawaii to attend in late March and I want to look good in photos and on the beach. My normal fasting window is roughly 6:30 pm to 11:30 am or so, daily. I do long daily walks, work out on the treadmill/elliptical/stepper in the gym a few days a week and also do light weights at home. I try to keep my calories under 1500. In the past two months I’ve gone from 152 to 145 lbs. However, for the past week I’ve been stuck at 145 lbs. I’m trying to figure out how to get past that number. I’m thinking about closing my eating window earlier in the day. … Other suggestions welcome! Thank you!
Day 47.Down 22lb.Started with 18:6 and moved to primarily 20:4 after the first month. Now some days are OMAD.
My biggest issue is still those few hours before bed where I crave all of the fast food.
I think I’m going to incorporate more stationary biking during the week. I’m not very active and I think this will help boost my energy levels along with the weight loss.
35/M, 5’-8”. Nearing the end of a consistent 7 weeks of fasting. I typically do 17/7, but since last week I’ve added two 20/4 fasts per week. I’m down 6.4 pounds so far. This week I’m setting alcohol aside for at least a couple weeks to shave off some empty calories. I’m feeling solid, and happy with my progress so far. I started at 172 pounds, and my goal weight is 150 pounds. I’ll reassess my goals after I’ve reached that milestone.
Intermittent fasting (/extended fasting).
I aim for 36hrs fasted then 3-6hr eating, so the timing varies a lot.
I started fasting after having a pretty bad case of covid. I was reading about the benefits of fasting for the immune system, and longevity in general so wanted to experiment a bit. That was in July last year and I just stuck with ever since.
So far I’ve lost 12kg (I think that’s around 26lbs), feel great mentally and physically, better quality of sleep, gym performance (strength & cardio wise) stayed on the same trajectory it was on before fasting- I was concerned that strength especially would be affected when training fasted, but that hasn’t been the case. Haven’t caught covid again, or fallen ill at all since I started fasting 😊
