Answer

20:4 here! Rounding out my first week after months of 16:8.

Type: Nearly true fast; water, black coffee, small bits of Mio and 1 scoop of C4 powder in the AM. “Relaxed” Keto in 4 hour window (Around but usually under 50 carbs).
Context: Day 4 of indefinitely.
Length: 20 hours fasting, 4 hour eating window.
Why?: For weight loss (5/10, 220lbs) and because I obsess over what I eat so I’ve been 16:8 for a while and now starting 20:4… and will go for controlling when I eat instead.
Notes: I feel really great. I started out with a wider eating window for the last few months and then this week decided to dive right into 20:4. Energy is fantastic, hunger doesn’t feel like desperate pangs. If you’re fasting during work hours I totally recommend a longer window before this. I’m not blinded by the thought of food! I’m currently concerned about pacing out my meals when my window starts… been currently doing one big meal out the gate and small snacks.

47F. 4months of 16:8. Also had Covid for 3 weeks in the middle where I just ate/drank whenever I needed to.

SW231, CW204. GW165

I’m noticing that I get full after very small meals, but also so many foods I used to enjoy are no longer appealing… a few bites and it turns my stomach. Everything tastes extremely salty or over spiced or too oily. I end up doing Bananas/Rice/Apples/Tea to settle my stomach every few days.

Answer

32F, just started 16:8 last week! 5’10” SW: 160lbs, GW: 145lbs? (more concerned about losing visual body fat around my midsection than a specific GW number)

I’m doing roughly an 11a-7p or 12p-8p eating period. I prepped by reading The Obesity Code by Jason Fung MD (super informative and motivating! I highly recommend).

I was motivated to try IF because although I’ve always been a tall, skinny, and athletic, I’ve slowly gained about 10lbs in the past 10 years and would not like to continue that trend for the rest of my life. I could always kinda eat what I wanted and stay thin up until I started approaching my 30s and I have not been happy with the eating habits I have. I often binge sweets and eat crappy processed carbs for snacks. Only being about a week in, I already feel so empowered to choose healthy food to fuel my body and am much more mindful in that sense. I love feeling like I’m taking care of my body! The only problem so far has been some constipation, but it seems that upping my water intake and making sure I’m eating enough fiber should help with that.

36M, 18:6, SW: 283, CW: 275, GW: 225
Type: I drink water, monster, and sometimes at night liquor or beer.
Context: Started in December, and tracked for a week, then decided I didn’t need it. Well I do need it. So I have tracked all week. on Day 4 of indefinitely.
Why: I need to lose weight and I cannot survive calorie counting diets. I wish my mouth liked vegetables but it just doesn’t. I try to eat them sometimes but I cannot survive eating them regularly.
Notes: I started a new work out routine and am feeling pretty good. A good amount of energy and I am not extremely starving all the time.

Answer

18, female. This is my second month. I’ve lost about 17 pounds so far. Got slower after the first month, but I’m here for the long hall! I did 18:6, but I’m switching to 17:7 because I doesn’t work with my new schedule. May fast is just water. So far it’s been working really well. Some days are better than others, but I love I have no cheat days here, since I’m very black and white when it comes to practical things. I just eat what I want within my eating window, and if it’s healthy it’s healthy, if no then not. No stress, and when I’m hungry I remind myself I’ll eat later.

Answer

16:8

SW121, CW118. GW115

I started IF mid-January 2022 because I love sweets and chips, have a bad habit of snacking right before bed time, and indulge in food on the weekends (going out to eat rather than preparing something healthier at home).

Since the beginning of covid, I’ve been WFH and I maintained my exercise regimen in the beginning but found it hard to stay dedicated this past year. Of course the snacking caught up
with me and my weight slowly started creeping up. I’ve been overweight before and even though I was only 6lb over my weight pre-covid, I didn’t want to keep gaining more weight and then regret not starting to diet/exercise sooner.

Right now I’m not actively exercising, just taking 30 minutes walks outside during lunch sometimes. Before starting IF, I tried calorie-counting but it wasn’t sustainable for me. It’s actually much easier having a feeding window and just replacing 1 meal with a salad on the weekdays. Next month, I plan on moving to 20:4. Loving IF and the results so far.
