I’m a 54 year old woman doing low carb and OMAD for weight and health maintenance. It’s a breeze during my busy workdays, but sometimes a mental challenge on my days off. I row six days a week. I feel great.
F31, SW85kg, CW83kg, GW70kg. I am doing kind of 16:8 for the last year, not really strict but more because I was not hungry during breakfast. I started reading about IF and I am going for my first 24 fast today after lunch. I am excited and a little bit nervous (like the good kind of nervous) about my first 24 hour fast. I will only drink water/tea/coffee during fasting. I want to be healthier and lose some weight.
Love to hear experiences from others about their first 24 hour fasts!
Day 1:
After falling on and off fasting for a little while I’m starting again today but with 18/6 as the minimum fasting time before eating.
I will probably throw in a few longer fasts here and there but I’d like to keep this as the base line for days when I want to eat Lunch/be Social and don’t feel like doing just OMAD.
During the week I will eat healthy and normal meals as much as possible and then Saturdays will be my day off. I will still fast until my minimum of 18 hours however as I want to remain consistent with this regardless of the day of the week.
So far I’ve fasted over 17 hours and just had a coffee with sweetners and milk, so I won’t have the other benefits of fasting but weight loss is my aim currently so I don’t mind. At some point though I’m planning on switching over to tea most days to try and get some of these other fasting benefits.
More than happy to support if anyone wants a fasting buddy too :) and otherwise I’ll report back on my weight loss after a month or so. (Also I’m not doing strict keto/low carb for anyone that may be wondering but I will try and keep some of my meals as low carb as possible during the week).
Good luck to those fasting currently!! I hope you meet all of your goals this year ☺️
F24 SW 176.5lbs. CW166.3lbs. I started intermittent fasting Janurary 27th. as of March 2, I’ve lost 10 pounds in five weeks. I’ve been doing mainly 16:8 for the majority of the time. I sometimes do OMAD when I don’t feel super hungry. I don’t exercise at all. I plan to continue and eventually be stable at doing OMAD as my main fasting style with some 24hr fasting in between. I’m excited to see how much I can lose. I’m sure I’d lose more if I exercised, but I hate the feeling I get when exercising so that is a no lol.
M35. Reattempting to start again. Again. I’m doing 23 hour fast every day.
During my one hour of eating, I feel like I just consume SO much. I don’t know if I’m really making progress. If I consume 1000 calories in one hour am I really going to make a difference?

16/8, ends at noon.
Today was a tough one. This morning…. I find that I’m at 251. That means I haven’t have any progress in over a week. I remind myself that I didn’t put it all on in a week, so I can’t take it all off in a week. I remind myself that this is a marathon and that some miles are faster than others. Even so I can’t help but feel a little discouraged. I won’t give up though. I think I need to eat a little better during my window, or shrink my window, or get back on the work out grind.
F31, SW 180.2lbs, CW 173.3lbs, GW 125lbs.Fasting 16:8, rotating for day and night shifts (ICU RN).On my third week of fasting ever!
Hoping to lose that COVID stress weight, start running again, be able to manage the switch from day life to night shift better, improve blood glucose and cholesterol levels, and feel good naked!! :)
So far, fasting on night shift was daunting to start but I feel like it’s going well! I am avoiding all of the sugary treats that come out at 3am, and my pre-work workouts are much stronger.
Keys to success have been: meal prepping (!!!), drinking tons of water, signing up for workouts in advance, eating ENOUGH during eating hours to sustain me through, and being steadfast on actually taking a break to eat (the hardest thing to do as a nurse!)
Question for you all… how often do you weigh in? I tend to get a little obsessed so I am trying to do just once a month. TIA!
16:8, 9 days in, trying to lose some weight
Pretty happy with how easy I am to accomplish this with my schedule but was hoping for some results as I haven’t really noticed anything. I know a week is nothing but just kinda worried its all for nothing. I do have a cheat day once a week where I’ll have pizza or something but still follow the hours. I guess we will see in a couple of weeks anything..
36M, SW 226 CW 209 GW 184 Today I am doing my first 48h fast. I have gone 24 hours before, but I have yet to wake up, then go back to sleep without eating anything. Previous to this I was doing 20:4 for about 2 months with pretty good progress but its a medium steady pace of close to 2lbs a week.
