Type: Sunnah (non-obligatory) Muslim fast, no food or water. Not even toothpaste! This particular fast is done for three consecutive days each lunar cycle, the last day being the day of the full moon.

Context: One hour done.

Length: Sunrise to sunset. About 11.5 hours today.

Why: Islam! The fasting period begins with a prayed intention to fast, and a prayed intention to break the fast begins the eating window.

Notes: This is a psychologically tougher type of fast in some ways because I can’t lean on coffee, tea, or water. However, this time of year, the fasting period is about as short as it gets. And the other, secular IF I’ve been doing helps give me some mental resilience to do this type of fast.

Context: Day 3 of 100Length: At minimum 20:4, sometimes I end up making it to 23:1. Why: Kicking myself into gear for a self imposed 100 day 20:4 fast challenge to improve my health. If I drop weight during the process, it is a plus to help my body feel better, but not a requirement. (Won’t be using scale until end of 100 day challenge.) Notes: Going much smoother/easier than I expected. At 18 hour mark I start to get really hungry. I just distract myself, then can easily fast a couple more hours. Love it so far!

Type of fast - Food

Context of fast - Day 5 (in a span of 1 week, did not fast on weekend), END: until i reach my goal of losing weight to 58kg. SW 90kg, have not weighed myself yet despite fasting for 5 days.

Length of fast - Mostly 18 hour-ish, once 23 hour-ish.

Why? Lose weight, tired of feeling tired all the time, wedding coming up next year.

Notes - It was insane today.

I did not feel the stress of fasting prior to this, but yesterday night and today, (now that i am on three day streak), i felt so angry and moody (during feeding time and fast).

Took a while to register that i was satiated when i ate during the feeding period.

Thereafter, i hit a crazy wall (anger, murder mode), I just let my self feel what i felt and had a cup of herbal tea.

Just venting, im a lot better now after this (tea and allow myself to feel what i feel).

From tomorrow onward, I will eat breakfast with protein, as usually i only drink a cup of milk when i break fast (morning) and eat a whole meal during lunch time. I think its too little for me.

Physically, im looking a lot slimmer in just a week.

About 6 weeks with IF and just went to a 5 hour eating window and started gentle hot yoga (80-85 degrees). Have 1.6 pounds to go to reach my 2022 goal! I was floundering and then found IF. It’s really working for me!
