Type: water. Context: 23h/1h. Day 3/27. Why: weight loss. 13.5kg down, 30kg to go. Notes: Getting back into omad after 2 really bad weeks where I fell off the wagon and put some weight back on. I know setbacks happen, but it was still really hard to start again after feeling so defeated.

Type of fast: water/coffee. Train at 7am fastedContext of fast: eating window 12-8. Day 5 Week 1Length of fast: 16:8Why? Weight loss! GW 70kg CW 81.7kgNotes: I started Saturday (38M, 5’5 starting weight 81.7) so been training and fasting for 5 days now. Handling the hunger pangs ok. Weight went down to 81 2 days ago but back up to 81.7 today. Likely water maybe….I think I was expecting more drastic results already. But it’s been 5 days haha. My jeans feel looser this morning though which is great! Ideal goal is to get down to 70kg. Ive seen nutritionists over the years and no one can seem to work me out as I’ve always put weight on. Currently on 1500cal a day! I’m short so weight goes on quick and is more noticeable. Hopefully will see more results soon!

Water fast, day 15 (started on 6th Sept), part of a 16:8 schedule. Aiming for weight loss—I don’t put much stock in BMI but I know I’m extremely overweight.

Started off at 97.7kg (215.4lb), currently 92kg (202.8lb). Honestly surprised, as I’m not really exercising or eating better. A bit worried my weighing machine might be broken, but mostly very encouraged.

Day 105

2MAD and OMAD with occasional longer fasts

42F/5’8”, SW: 195 lbs (88.5 kg), CW: 165 lbs (75 kg), GW: 145 lbs (65.8 kg)

After the blood sugar rollercoaster on Monday, yesterday was delightfully smooth. My husband offered me a smoothie at 10am, which is earlier than I usually break the overnight fast, but I liked all the ingredients and didn’t want it to go to waste. Smoothies don’t keep well for long. This one had whole milk Greek yogurt, unsweetened coconut milk, blueberries, strawberries, hempseeds, ground flaxseeds and chia seeds. No banana this time. I had a decaf coffee with cream after the smoothie, and a pear. I guess it was a fruit-heavy breakfast, but it didn’t feel excessive.

I waited until 5pm to start my next meal, and I was good and hungry by then, but not starving. Had some cheese and a few almonds while I was cooking. Made a simple family favorite: stir-fried chicken breast with soy sauce, coconut oil, Chinese 5-spice and a dash of hoisin, over jasmine rice pilaf, with peas on the side.

I also indulged in an old favorite: toasted Ezekiel bread with butter. It’s my mom’s favorite bread and it does make really good toast. It wasn’t quite as delicious as I remembered, but still enjoyable. I also had a few squares of dark chocolate.

With all that, I wouldn’t have been surprised to see an uptick on the scale this morning, but I got a nice low number. It’s about the right time in my cycle to see a new low, so I’m guessing that’s it.

Yoga today, then a long day on campus. I’m sticking with 2MAD today, to avoid any problem when I’m in back-to-back lecture and lab. Hoping tomorrow will be a good OMAD day.

Have a wonderful Wednesday, friends!

Day3 of Week22, IF, 18/6

SW: 104kg/229lbs; CW: 89kg/196lbs; GW: 85kg/187lbs

Today 87,9kg down from the 88,2kg of yesterday. It is somewhat surprising to me considering that I had 2 fake lasagne and a bowl of oats with banana and cinnamon flavored greek yoghurt in my OMAD yesterday. I expected my weight go climb :P

Today evening I’ll have a dinner and after tomorrow morning’s breakfast I’ll be entering the weekly 48h fast.

Managed to catch up some sleep last night, but that have cut my off-work productivity to nothing :P

Weather remained clear and windy, slight increase in pollen concentration, but it is something I can manage as long as I avoid physical activities.

Gonna make a double-dose of the stew tonight, so I don’t need to fuss about what I’ll eat in the morning. Stews in general tend to be filling enough to make the first day of the 48h feel really easy, or even a relief in a way so I’m looking forward to it.

It is MIDWEEK, good folk of IF Crew! We’re past the hardest parts of the week ;)

Water/coffee fast mostly 20/4 &23/1 however yesterday I just wasn’t hungry so am on hour 32 and feeling great. It’s been awhile since I’ve done more than 24 ish hours so it’s nice when it just happens seamlessly. I’ll plan to eat later today around hour 40 or so. Thus far I’m feeling so amazing. My blood pressure has consistently been in normal levels and I’ve booked an appt with my doctor to reduce or eliminate my BP med. I’m sleeping so deeply and feeling much more energetic and happier.

Week 7 - water - coffee

It is the third good day after I fell of the wagon for a few days. Still amazes me how quickly I feel full after a meal.

Today I’m eating: For lunch: 1 bread with cheese, 1 bread with mackerel. A cappuchino. And for dinner: a salad with chicken, vegetarian bacon and vegetables.

Yesterday I had a drink/celebration with work but because of the fasting I could eat some small things and still be in a great deficit so that also really works for me.

Well gent, its month # 9 of “lets lose some weight” , month # 6 of IF 8/16 (more 6/18 in reality). Went from 217lbs to 178lbs and still going down FAST at 1-2 pound a week (6’1” male, lean bodymass is about 142lbs) id like a 10-12% fat, so ill start eating more around 155-160 pounds so not loose too much muscle mass. IF is a “for life” thing for me, im not going back. By christmas, ill up my food intake and try building muscles in IF somehow. Let see what happen.

Answer

Type of fast: water/Yerba maté

Context: Day 1 of ???, 54M SW 219.2 / GW 165

Length of fast: 18/6

Why: Weight loss, again

Notes: I’ve been doing IF for a few years. I’ve had always had success when I watched what I ate. Not so much when I didn’t. Mostly I have treated it as some have touted it, “Don’t change what you eat, just when you eat,” and I have failed. I can eat a ton of really poor quality food, in a really short amount of time. I have done 5:2 fasting where I have fasted for 5 days and eaten for 2 and I did lose weight, even eating crap on those 2 days, but that took months and was clearly not sustainable. Once, I even fasted 11 days (264 hours) until my wife got nervous and asked me to stop. My goal, this time, is to create a lifestyle that is sustainable and livable for my future. All of my future. I am listing my fast length as 18:6 right now, but I will likely move quickly into 20:4 and/or OMAD. I would appreciate any words of wisdom, encouragement, or general support. I don’t even mind being asked questions to challenge my thinking. I appreciate this group and wish only the best for all involved. I appreciate the community and the education and learning that I receive. Onward!!

Answer

About to end my unplanned 18 hour fast with some ice cream lol (it’s a rare treat, I’ll have some lunch with it too). My weight has been hovering because I’ve had friends over a lot and we typically get high, but I feel really good about the fact that even if it’s not going down it’s also not going up. Spending the rest of this week sober, so hopefully some progress will be
made.
