Answer

Type: One Meal A Day

Context: I just broke my fast after 20 hours. I will have a homemade veggie-anchovy pizza.

Why: Fam, I gained 30 lbs immediately after catching Covid (long Covid amirite?!) and I need to lose that + another 20.

This is day four. I am very shocked at how little appetite I have already.

Day5 of Week19, IF, 18/6

SW: 104kg/229lbs; CW: 89kg/196lbs; GW: 85kg/187lbs

Halfway into the 48h fast, halfway down the carbs-related water weight.89,0kg down from 90,0kg of yesterday.

Sorry for my low engagement these days folk, I’m still reading your check-ins and updooting them but got swamped in work and trying to rest up whenever them pollens allow me.

Thankfully we’ve got a slow and steady rain since last night, so air is clearing up for a while, and if this keeps up I’ll be in better shape within a couple days.Forecast telling me it’ll be sunny again soon, so I’m expecting I’ll experience the wrath of the pollens once more soon enough.

Electrolyte replenishment is all the stuff I’ll have this day besides some coffee and tea. The tzatziki idea is coming back upon the end of the fast, so I’d process the cucumber sitting in my fridge.

We’re on the last day of the week, hold out just a little while longer, then enjoy the weekend! ;)

Day 7 of week 1 of 16/8 IF

I weighed myself 2 weeks ago. I’m 5’5, 36yo female and my family has a history of heart problems (particularly early heart attacks.) I was dismayed to see I weighed 205.5 lb. T_T . I spent a week doing research and decided upon 16/8 with 1 hour of fast walking (to be turned into jogging when I’m less… jiggly).

I’m absolutely Shocked at my own will power, I have stuck to this so hard. I’ve tried CO/CI, I’ve tried low fat, I’ve tried Ashanti Yoga.

Nothing has lasted longer than 2 days. I am SO proud of myself, even after just 1 week that I came here to tell you about it. Lol.

IF has been so easy so far. I’m still hungry, particularly in the mornings, but I’ve stuck with it. Also I’m no longer “wiped out” after an hour of walking.

I haven’t lost any weight yet, it’s only been a week, but I have lost half an inch on my waist! ETA I JUST WEIGHED MYSELF AND IVE LOST 2LB !!!

Thanks for listening <3

Third week with IF. Doing a minimum 16:8, but alternate with 18:6 and 23:1. Today is the third time doing 23:1 and was the easiet time. I even walked by restaurants and bakerys and smelling all the good things but didnt want to eat it at all. Now 4 more hours to breakfast. 😁

Answer

Type: Water and coffee

Context: Started augustus 30th, trying to see how this works.

Length: 16:8

Why: Weight loss

Notes: Went out drinking, no idea when my last calories were, probably somewhere between 23:00 and 1:00.I’ll just eat at 12 and continue as before, seems to be my best bet.

Answer

12 hour day planned for work. I won’t be eating here but I definitely plan to get some fast food on the way home. Treat day (I like calling it a treat day rather than cheat day because no food is off limits entirely minis a couple of my personal trigger foods) and I won’t feel like cooking at all.

Hope everyone has a good Friday!

Had my first OMAD day yesterday since starting IF. It wasn’t planned but it was actually really easy. I have been slacking a little bit on the weekends recently (down to 16:8 from my normal 20:4, *GASP*) so thinking about just accepting a new norm as OMAD weekdays and 16:8 weekends… seems very doable long term!!

Answer

20:4, for weight loss!

weird drop in weight has stopped. sure it was just water weight or smth but i get freaked easy! i have anxiety and i don’t want to see doctors lol. either way… took my measurements the other day and they haven’t budged (they’re actually higher? but i’m putting that down to me not measuring properly, it’s only by like a half inch). it’s killed my motivation a bit, not gonna lie. still chugging along though…

there’s some other things that make me want to quit losing weight too but i need to be thinner when i get top surgery. i can’t afford a corrections surgery if i get dog tags. just hoping my stupid big tits don’t cause em anyways…

does anyone know the over/under on weight loss causing menstrual cycle regulation? i know what science says, but mine are awful and i don’t want them back, and they’ve never been consistent anyways, even when i was a thinner teen. i just don’t want losing weight to cause them to be consistent. that’d be a nightmare scenario!

Hi all!

Started on August 22nd with IF!

F/28/173cm/5’8

SW: 121.3 kg / 267 lbs

CW: 119.3 kg / 263 lbs

GW: 85kg / 187 lbs

So far, it is going great! I’m doing 16:8 with only consuming water and black coffee between 20:00 and 12:00, plus I’m trying to limit my carb intake during my feeding window (nothing very strict, basically substituting bread for low-carb bread, rice and pasta for cauliflower and zucchini substitutes etc). So far, I’ve lost 2 kg within 1.5 weeks and am feeling a lot better as well. I feel more energetic and less hungry. Also, I’ve started wearing my Fitbit again, and my resting HR already seems to be dropping a bit!

Besides IF, I am taking a daily 45/50 min walk.

Very happy and motivated to keep going. A couple of years ago, I lost 28 kg within half a year doing just CICO, but fell off the wagon and gained it all plus more back. This time around, feeling hopeful to make some lasting changes! IF seems to be easier to adhere to and makes me less hungry, and I think I could keep to this schedule during maintenance too.

Happy to be a part of this community, and have a nice weekend all!

Context of fast: week 2 day 6Length of fast: goal is 16:8. I am averaging closer to 18 hours before I break fast. Why? What you hope to accomplish with your fastNotes How is it going so far? Any concerns? Insights to share?I am fasting for weight loss, general gut health, and feeling better. Prior to this I spent a couple months on a ~1500 cal 3 Meals/day structure. I was always hungry and I felt like my gut health was less regular. Week 1 was good, week 2 has been a bit tougher. I’m beginning to recognize that workout timing may be an issue: I absolutely do not have a schedule that allows me to work out before work. (Trust me, I’d like to but it’s just not an option). So I have my first meal around noon-1pm. Get off work by 430. Then I have to choose between immediately working out so I can shower and get to my next meal before 7pm goal, or eat right away and work out after the food has settled. (FWIW I run ~3 miles and also do strength training.) If I eat first, I feel heavy during the workout and don’t know if it burns as much for weight loss. And I’m not really hungry yet. If I work out first, I wind up feeling really fkn hungry and weak. I think I just need to try one way for a week or two and then switch to the other and compare. Any advice?

Day 81, 16.5/7.5, F22

SW: 237.4 lbs, CW (at last weigh-in): 232.9 lbs

Yesterday was the start of a new month, which means I analyzed the data from last month today. I have a hard time keeping a streak of days where I abide by my fasting. The longest I managed to stick to 16/8 was 6 days. This month, I guess my goal is to make it 7 days! Incremental progress! I also did have a lower weight this month, but not necessarily at the end. My lowest weight of the month was 232.6lbs. As long as the lowest weight keeps getting lower, I can’t really complain! Also this month, I am going to try and incorporate one OMAD on the weekend, either Saturday or Sunday. I feel like weekends are way easier for that because I’m usually doing fun stuff and I sleep in way longer. I have started allowing myself to drink sparkling water outside my eating window because it really helps me make it. So I can do coffee, sparkling water, tea, and plain ol water. I also decided this month to shoot for 7.5 hour eating windows instead of 8. It’s gonna take a lot of work but I know I can do it!
Wishing everyone a good fast today!

Answer

Type -extended water(+electrolytes)/coffee/tea

Context - after dinner Wednesday until 2pm Friday

Length-41 hours

Why - to reset after river cruise weight gain and settle back into low carb/IF routine. (Usually 16/8 5-6 days a week)

Notes- felt great and could have gone longer. Worked out (resistance circuit at gym) fasted at 33 hours. Broke fast w Hlth code shake.

Still feel astonished that I can do this. When I was carb/sugar addicted 57 yr old pre-diabetic (SW 164 CW 142 GW 132) I snacked until bedtime and woke up “needing” to eat asap, or I got headache, brain fog and general misery.

Still need to work on fighting boredom/procrastination/anxiety snacking urges tho.

Hello! I’m new here (not to fasting in general, just the sub) and I have terrible will power. I need strength in numbers. I started my current fast at noon today (central time zone puts me at 7 hours into fast) and I’m hoping to go 36 hours.

I’m trying out the Fast Mimicking Diet (ish, it’s trademarked but I’m pretty sure I figured out the caloric portions) because I take medications for autoimmune diseases and I tend to get migraines. So, less than 100 cals in any given “meal” which I’ll take as just chicken stock or V8 to take my meds.

I really want to get into some Autophagy to help with my inflammation. I found that weight loss is tough for me since I am pretty much unable to do strenuous exercise. So I’m just learning to be happy with who I am, even if that is about 25 lbs over weight.

Thank you any words of encouragement you have, my will power is almost non existent due to ADHD.

OMAD DAY 5 (weeps)

Hello, all. I am back. I turn to comment again in this thread/read other people’s comments whenever I feel the urge to prematurely break my fast.

I weigh 238 pounds, but am aiming for more like 190. I’m on day 5 of OMAD, and am about 20 hours into my fast. Problem is, I have dinner with someone in 5 hours — tacos! — and so I’m trying to hold out till then.

Honestly, my hunger isn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I also have way more mental clarity, my gastritis is getting better (prob from simply digesting less food) and I’ve gasp had the energy to work out. I just did 45 mins on my spin bike, albeit a light challenge level.

Tacos, tacos, tacos.Holding out for the tacos.
