What would be the next steps when things start to plateau? I’m 11 weeks in, down 11lbs, but only seen 2lbs down in 4 weeks. I’m 38M, 5’5, down to 168lbs and eating around 1300/1400 cals. I still feel fine, and train at least 5/6 times a week, some being double (morning/evening). I’m getting to that point where I can’t train more, and there’s not a great deal of movement to reduce calories. I could drop another 100/200 maybe?

Anyone else get to this point? And what did you do? My goal weight is around 155lbs

Day 2 for me! Managed to make it to my eating window without breaking.
I drank nothing but water, tea, coffee and at dinner allowed some zero calorie lemon flavored “sweet” tea.
I hit the reset on my timer immediately after swallowing the last bite so with that and sleeping I’m at 12 hours now! I stepped on the scale this morning and was down 3lbs of water weight but it’s a nice little boost.

I will do a repeat of yesterday, today. Nothing but fluids til dinner time (7pm) Then one nice meal.

Have a great day everyone!

Brand new to IF and to this group … On day 2 of 16:8 (window is 12-8 pm). I’m 39F, 5’3”, 168 lbs and 20 of that was gained in the last two years. I am trying to get back to the 137 that I was when I started my 30s. No idea what to expect but I am here to learn!

*Also I should note that my recent bloodwork indicated that I have high cholesterol and am pre-diabetic. Aside from looking and feeling better, I want to turn this around.

Type: fast from food. Black coffee, tea, water, salt and other electrolytes (powder form, no capsules or flavorings) allowed.

Context: on hour 20

Length: 48 hours

Why: Recover from carb binge yesterday and see how I do with a longer fast

Notes: I woke up this morning and right away I felt cold, as I usually am when fasting.

But then I dissolved some potassium chloride and magnesium glycinate in water (my usual non-fasting daily dose) and drank that.

20 minutes later I didn’t feel cold anymore! I may have hit on something: will try taking smaller amounts of electrolytes in water throughout the day in the future.

I just drank some tap water with a bit of table salt, too.

Really happy with my progress since Thanksgiving.

I’ve been struggling this fall to commit, and it’s really boiled down to wanting a cream in my coffee. I can drink black coffee, but I don’t want to. I know… it seems like such a silly thing.

Shifting my eating window has really helped me. I have always done 20:4 with my first bite of the day being at 2:00PM but breaking my fast a little earlier at noon lets me satisfy that coffee craving and helps me stick to the plan. Limiting carbs has also helped keep cravings down and I have felt pretty good.

The other hurdle for me has always been the weekends, especially around the holidays. Every weekend we have a party or some other social event. This weekend I decided not to even think about it on Saturday. I ate and drank and had a good time but have been fasting since.

I’m in hour 62 of my first “72 hour” fast consisting of only water and decaf black coffee. I really had no intention of doing this, but I was so busy on Sunday that it was 6:00PM before I realized I hadn’t eaten so I Just thought “f*ck it”. I wasn’t really hungry at all yesterday, so I decided to see if I could make it through today and I’m really still not hungry at all.

Unfortunately, I didn’t start fasting until 8:00PM on Saturday, so if I want the whole 72 hours, I need to wait until 8PM tonight. Not sure I want to eat that late so maybe this time will be a little short.

This has been a great confidence booster as I have only every done two 48-hour fasts. It’s nice to know I can do a little reset when I need to. Thinking I will break my fast today with some Chicken soup.
