Day 6 of 16:8.
44M, 5’10, starting weight 198#.
Hoping to lose about 5-10 pounds and some stubborn belly fat. I drink only water and coffee during my fasting window, which is what I normally survive on as a nurse.
I planned that this first week would be more or less about adjusting to the fasting window and my relationship to just grazing all day on whatever that would provide energy. Next week Ill start to track how many calories Im consuming in order to meet my goal.
I work out at 530 and it has been challenging to not eat or take in a protein shake in the morning right after working out. Ive noticed my energy levels arent so much affected after I get going but Im definitely experiencing increased brain fog at times. Could that be due to something Im not consuming enough of during my eating window?
Thanks
Man, I want to drink my noon coffee with stevia and cream and eat my noon yogurt with walnuts RIGHT NOW! Gotta wait 2.5 hours though. I’m usually not struggling with my fast but today I’m feeling like Veruca Salt - I WANT IT NOW!!!!
Hi everyone! I am 40F, 82 kg, doing ADF for 10days now. I have been doing IF before, mainly 5:2 and it was the only thing that helped me lose wait.So started again on Jan 17, this time ADF, also with 5 workouts a week (mostly cardio). The first week was great, I dropped almost 3kg but now is my second week and actually my weight is going up compared to the first one. Started 83.4 kg (but I was bloated, on my period so I assume I was more around 82.5 really), lowest point last week was 80.7 kg, so I thought I will drop below 80 after two more 36 hours fasts but sadly, no. Today I am 81.7 and frankly, I am little disappointed. Is it too early to expect results? I see other people here have amazing results just two weeks in and I really hoped that I will too. Also having results early in the beginning keeps my motivation high.
I have no problem with the fasts - I do only herbal tea, water and coffee, on eating days I aim at 1500 ccal and try to eat clean.
Maybe I should be more patient, I guess.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Type : Water and tea during fasting
Context : Near-end of the 2nd week of IFLength : 16:8
Why ? : I want to lose 5 kg (pandemic weight)
Notes : So the 1st week, I lost 1 kg and this week I gained 1 kg. Not sure if IF will work. I eat at 12 for lunch, 4pm for a snack and 7pm for dinner.I noticed I have less energy to do pilates. I only do it for 30 min.
OMAD 23:1, water, tea, coffee.

I’ve been IM since the 1st Jan, with some flex on work trips, and social occasions, but I’ve slipped to 20:4 or 16:8 instead of falling off the wagon, and straight back to 23:1 after. It’s feeling sustainable and my mental clarity at work is a fantastic side effect of fasting.
I’m pleased with the 12lb weight loss but prepared for a slow down.I’m preparing for a 14 day fast in February which I’m looking forward to - I’m looking to benefit from the autophagy aspects of an extended fast as opposed as a tool for weight loss.
Given my current weight, it seems like the right time to do it - closer to a healthier BMI I’ll not consider extended fasting really and maintain IM.

type of fast: water + black coffee onlyContext of fast: day 24, unbroken streak
Length of fast: 16:8

Why?: lose fat, simplify life, BONUS - explore the other benefits some people claim although i am a bit skeptical i havent noticed huge changes in energy/mood/focus yet

Notes: was difficult to focus on work/non-fasting tasks due to hunger by hour 14-16 of each fast at the start. however i really noticed today (day 24) that i am not noticing the hunger at all and energy is fine. i workout every morning before work for about an hour. still havent felt major changes in energy or mood yet though but i am keeping an open mind
