9 years ago, I went from 225 lbs. to 145 lbs. with intermittent fasting. I gave up IF after another year and I’ve maintained a weight between 135 - 160 since, but in the last year I’ve become heavier than I’m comfortable with. So 2 days ago I decided to do 19/5 IF. My goal is not a number on the scale but to fit into pants and shorts that are 2 sizes smaller than I’m currently wearing. Not even to buy new clothes, just to fit into clothes I already own that were comfortable 2 years ago.

My eating window is between 5PM - 10PM, the rest of the time I aim for zero or at least negligible calories, liquids only, so I’m drinking a lot of black coffee, and if I feel the need to drink something but don’t want more caffeine, I make Valerian tea. I haven’t had much difficulty. I have a feeling that in a few weeks it will be seamless like it used to be.

Back in my big weight loss days I supplemented a 19/5 with a few 24 or 36 hour fasts per month. I don’t feel the need to do that this time around although I might do just one before Christmas to offset breaking my window because of a family brunch.

My first day of getting back into ADF. Looking to shed some pounds and stop eating so much sugar. Only 14 hours in so I’m feeling fine so far, but I know the sugar cravings are going to be bad later. I know I can do it, because I’ve had success with it before, I just need to get the ball rolling
