Purpose of dry fast: weight loss, inflammation, sore throat, eczema.
Weight Loss: a total of **1.4 kg from 58 to 56.6** the following day. Much of which I think is water weight.
Activity: Working quite an active cafe job that requires me standing for 8 hours straight, lifting, and moving stuff.
Recap: I've done plenty of 5-7 day water fasts back in 2020 which didn't seem to help me keep my weight off because I would always gain everything back after refeed, which I always implement very carefully but one slip up drives me back to square 1. I've played around with keto and carnivore for much of 2020 and later settled back into a normal, "eat everything in moderation" diet until I gained back like 5-6kgs from my normal weight. This might be due to hormonal changes, changes in the gut microbiome, and the body's need for a homeostasis set point. I plan to dry fast my weight down to my normal weight and continue to strength train, and eat a primarily low carb, low sugar diet, not cutting out carbs (rice/pumpkin/ lentils) because my body actually really like them. I've tried a lot of diets and fasting and I hope I can just slowly heal my body. I read Dr Filinov's Guide to Dry fasting and it was said that 9 days was optimal until the benefits of a DF start to wane down. 9 is the goal but I may stop short if my body tells me to.
Answer
How active are you during a DF? I haven’t practiced DF, but with intermittent and 2-3 fasts, I found that the weight loss only occurred with some level of moderate activity (light to moderate short runs, compound movements). The refeed was always planned with nutrient dense foods first.
Good luck! Hope you find your DF protocol!
