Day 3: Nervous about breaking fast

BEFORE I RAMBLE, here are the stats for the folks: 33/F/5'5" -SW: 195 lbs -CW: 185 lbs -GW: 135 lbs So now I'm a mall walker because I just needed something to do between client projects. (I run a PR firm on my own and work remotely.) Also, I added in dry brushing to keep "clean" during the dry fast. Also, starting the hard dry fast with LUME deodorant or Mitchum has been a godsend lol. Anyway. Today will be Day 3 and the end of my 72 hour fast in 4 hours and 37 minutes according to my Zero App. I took photos and was impressed with how quickly my body changed in such a short period of time. As you can see, I lost a solid 10 lbs as of this morning but I will weigh in immediately before I refeed at 3 p.m. I am nervous about the refeed though. The plan is to break with baking soda and coconut water, then follow up with watermelon, cucumber, pineapple and some fish and kelp last. I will weigh myself after the meal to see what the food load is, then enter into a new 72 hour wave. I just don't want to see 10 lbs recur the next day. 😫 Anyone else have experience with maintaining losses after a refeed? What did you regain when you broke the fast? Thanks all!

Answer

Update: I am currently breaking the fast with one liter of coconut water and 2 lbs of cucumber and cherry tomatoes in salt and lime juice. This should be a total immediate increase of 4 lbs on the scale until it passes.

I’ll follow up with salmon later in about an hour and then restart at 5 pm.

My mouth feels so weird coming into contact with fluid for the first time in days! Did get some baking soda in to ease up my kidneys.

I just eat healthy and if I gain weight I’ll dry fast again. I’m not gonna weigh my food day to day to make sure I’m maintaining. I’ll just feast and then fast. If you know how to dry fast, that’s how you maintain weight.

Answer

I wouldn’t eat the carbs I would eat something easy to digest that is keto’ish. I have had bad experiences from long fast then getting hit with a relatively ‘normal’ amount of carbs.

My lots of people go bone broth but I hit up a nice piece of salmon. Keeps the fat burning going before you jump out of fat burn more.

Also, if you do research you find your organs particularly the liver Shrinks as you fast so the rebound in weight is totally normal and you’re not stacking on a bunch of fat, so you shouldn’t focus too on the scales.
