I had this problem too in the early days of fasting. I used to get it on OMAD and then it stopped. Then I stepped up my fasting to 36-48 and I had it again. Then my body adjusted. When I did my first 72, it happened again and since then, not at all. I think it’s something some people just have to endure until the body gets used to fasting.
Your body will get used to it the more you do it. But imagine your digestive system is system is shut down, and you shock that system by eating. It pulls in water to help with digestion and that’s what you’re experiencing.
It helps to break a fast with a small meal, and have your main meal an hour or two later.
Soak about 2 teaspoons of chai seed in water for about an hour and take it 30 mins before you break your fast. It will bulk up your stool. I tried it after listening to the fasting method podcasts. Do research on it before trying it though
I eat about 400-800kcal within approx 1 hour.I mainly have lean protein, eggs, some veggies, avocado, seeds
Have some time between what you eat. I do 3 day water fast.
For me personally there’s no problem with eggs, so I break fast with 2 boiled eggs with salt and pepper. 2 hours later I eat my main meal.
If you’re eating all that at once, it might be the cause of the problem.
People have been saying I’m wrong but it worked for me 100%. I reduced my water intake and I went from diarrhea to solid in no time after that change. I drank way too much water I think, now I’m back to 2/2.5l for normal days.
I don’t usually have issues after 48 hours so I just have small meals. Mostly cottage cheese and banana or some potatoes. And then can eat pretty much normaly.
For breaking my longer fasts I very slowly eat an apple for the first meal and then also potatoes or potatoe carrot soup for the second meal the next day or a few hours later. After that I just add whatever veggies I feel like and some protein. Again cottage cheese goes well but also eggs or tofu. I don’t eat much meat and I feel that would be harder to digest. Same with beans or lentils. Those I only add after 4-7 days.
You might try having the first small meal without protein but high fibre. Like the apple. Instead of eating it slowly grating it is an option and a common household remedy against diarrhea because the pectin in the peel binds water.
The only other thing I can think of is how much salt do you use? The one thing that every time gives me diarrhea when I fast longer than 48 hours is drinking broth. Even smallish amounts. So maybe try no salt for the first meals?
And honestly? If you can’t figure it out maybe rolling 48 just aren’t for you. Before you’re miserable every time try a different approach. Maybe adf would be more suitable, or not rolling and giving yourself more time to restart eating slowly.
