Did you continue IF with COVID?

I’ve been OMAD 4 to 6 days a week for a couple of years now. Pretty used to it and it works well for me. I just tested positive and read that unless you have a fever or other bad symptoms, you can continue IF. Just wondering how your experience was with COVID. Did you fast or stop during?

Answer

I had no desire to eat the first few days I had covid. I then shifted to OMAD as I was feeling better. I think my experience with IF helped me. It wasn’t that strange not eating for a few days since I had plenty of practice with it.

Answer

I did when I had covid and I think it may have helped. There are theoretical reasons why it could be beneficial - IF in general decreases inflammation and many of the symptoms and triggers of bad outcomes come from the inflammatory cascade of covid. Decreased inflammation - decreased symptoms from covid. That being said I wouldn’t start fasting just because of covid if you hadn’t been used to it before or do an extended fast (>24 hrs) just because you got covid; changing or extending or beginning a fasting routine is a physiologic and psychological challenge in the best of times. But if you do OMAD and get covid I wouldn’t change your way of eating because of covid. OMAD might help.

Not medical advice.

Answer

My mom had Covid and continued to do IF. It caused her to get very seriously ill from Covid she was very weak, not mentally present, and it took her a long time to recover. I would reccomend stopping until you’re healed, if she had been living alone and I hadn’t been there to take care of her it is very likely she could have died.

Answer

During Covid I more or less stopped, because it wasn’t predictable when I would be hungry, and I didn’t want to have one more thing to think about. I resumed around Day 10.

You should have a lot of fluids while you are sick with Covid, including broth and drinks like Pedialyte. I wouldn’t deny yourself drinks like that if you need fluids.

Answer

Covid hit me pretty hard the first few days, and I had close to zero appetite days one and two. After that, I ate when I was hungry, and didn’t want to challenge my body with caloric restriction or fasting so I ate adlib for a couple days. Gained a couple pounds, but regained health quickly and now I’m back to one meal a day, keto, foods with low processing, and all that good stuff
