Dirty fasting

Without any warriors getting at me… I just wanted to ask if anyone has had success with dirty fasting? If so how, please let me know 😁

What do you consider dirty fasting? I have heard some consider dirty fasting having things like broth/soup during the fast. I have also heard some consider drinking diet sodas or coffee with artificial sweeteners as dirty fasting

I do drink coffee or diet sodas during some of my fasts. But never anything that will raise my insulin levels (like soups or broths)

So far, I consider myself dirty keto. I will usually have coffee with cream once or twice a day. I also, on my longer fasts 72 hours, will have bouillon cubes in hot water to sip on. On top of that I am not shy about drinking diet coke or crystal light as needed. And by as needed, I usually mean just to have another taste in my mouth other than just water.

I don’t get too hungry, or rather hunger comes in waves so the sweetness from my splenda in my coffee or aspartame in my diet drinks don’t faze me. So far, I have lost the 18 pounds or so I gained after having covid and falling off the wagon health wise. Another month will give me more data on what my weight loss trend towards. I feel that my body just got back to where it was before, so perhaps water weight with some generous loss. This took about a month, from mid September til now.

As a female at 5’5, I should be around 125 to 140. So, I have in the very least 47 pounds to lose to reach that upper limit of normal.

My goal is to continue weekly fasting with a 71 hr fast then break for 1hr omad, proceed with 47 hour fast break for omad and a final 47 hr fast with a break for omad, rinse and repeat. I like this schedule because I have consistent eating windows that don’t change.

I have been “dirty” fasting to help ease myself back into my fasting regime. One coffee with a splash of milk during the day and a cup of carnivore broth in the evening. It hasn’t affected my weight loss negatively and has really helped me get back into the swing of things. I used to dry fast, or only consume green tea and electrolytes. Currently doing 120 and 72 hour fasts.

If for weight loss I do dirty fasting so I can hang it out longer. I’ll have coffees in the morning with a little milk, water during the day and a large cup of broth when I get home. Might sneak a cup of tea in before bed. Just makes it easier

When Ive had the covid brain fog (twice so far)I do a strict water only fast. No supplements, potions etc. 3 nights of this clears it up perfectly

I did. Before I knew what IF was years ago I would not eat for a whole day except chocolate milk. Then go home and feast. Then I found out what IF was and would drink coffee in the morning with creamer and whip cream. I also had a rockstar energy drink. But I was working out doing fasted cardio some days, ran 2-3 miles a day and lifted weights. I dropped the weight I needed to drop doing a variety of timed IFs. Now I’ve kicked the rockstars but still have my coffee with creamer and whip cream everyday. And workout everyday.

I’m on day 38 of 40 doing “dirty” water fasting. I kept it zero cal.As with any other form of fasting, building up to what you want to achieve is the easiest, safest way to go. I started with one day, then 3, then a week, then 3 weeks, then 40 days.
