Disclaimer. I ask this here because in my country it takes quiet a lot of time before I get a doctor appointment. I know that I can not get any medical advice from Reddit. I don’t seek that and rather want to know if it’s something normal or not.
I have been doing keto plus fasting for some time now, I have been on and off this lifestyle for few years now, but lately I really went in for it and have had my longest streak. I lately developed this issue where when I stand up I can get super dizzy/weak. I have energy otherwise. I especially feel it when I fast. I started to feel it my last 5 day fast. Then normally during the keto but only once or twice. I’m on day 2 of water fast and I feel it more then normally. Normally I don’t take any supplements for electrolytes and never felt like I need it. Can it be because of to little electrolytes? Is anyone else having this “problem”?
Extra information. I try to fast 5-7 days in a month. I basically do water fast but allow myself tea and Yerba mate. Other then that I feel great when I fast and don’t have any other problems. I work out. Regularly and eat on average 1400 -1700 calories daily (this average include the days I fast, I eat more calories in a day when I eat but because of my fast the daily average is lower)
Answer
Dizzyness isn’t “normal” in the sense that you should overlook it.
When I feel dizzy during a fast I will start by having salt. And water. And then sit down. And if in a little bit I don’t feel better I will break my fast. Usually hydration and electrolytes are enough to get me feeling well. If not, pull the rip cord and fast later.
