Chronically ill (special case, I know) and no, I don’t. But honestly, after the first 24 hours - I just keep going up and up in energy and ability. I get more done and feel better doing it. Hours 60-70 is always a struggle zone but from 72 on, I’m on fire and feel great - like so good I might even be able to do an 8 hour work day. It’s crazy the difference it makes in my case
At the moment I’m fasting 20-22 hours a day. I am working in shifts and sometimes have physically draining things to do but most of the time have I have to be very concentrated and it’s more mentally draining. I have the rule to never eat at work.
The fasting makes everything just waaaay easier! With my work I can’t plan for breaks so sometimes I wouldn’t even have the possibility to eat within my 8 to 12 hour shift. I manage without problems while my colleges who don’t fast are having problems with their concentration after a few hours.
But I also fasted 5-6 days several times before and I also never had a problem. The work helps me with fasting by distracting me for a long time and the other way around I don’t get problems with hunger or concentration and feel more energized no matter how long I have to work (In my job it’s not unusual that you have work 2-3 or even more hours longer after your shift, you can’t really plan to get of work on time).
At the beginning I just distracted myself a lot when I didn’t have to do anything (watching videos, playing games, talking with co-workers, drinking LOTS of water). But now work just means “no food” for me and I completely adapted to it despite working in rolling shifts and having a different schedule every day! It really takes just time to adapt and willpower at the beginning!
Fasting is easier when working tbh, you keep busy and don’t think about snacking. I do OMAD easily but 48 hour fasts I find more challenging if I’m on an off day. If I’m busy morning and evening that’s when I do the odd 48hr one.
