Does fasting fix/clean teeth?

HEY FATTY! During the pandemic I sort of let myself go at times and didn't brush as frequently as I normally would've since I was working from home. I also ate quite poorly (lots of junk food), and I vaped as well. I've quit vaping permanently, but I think the nicotine fucked my teeth up a bit. I didn't really notice it until it was almost too late, but my teeth got way more yellow and stained. I used to fast pretty heavily years ago but I don't remember the effect on teeth health. I do recall after finishing a 5 day fast someone asked me at work once "how do you get your teeth so white?" and I sort of shrugged it off at the time but it got me to thinking. Do you guys have any experience with your teeth getting whiter / stains disappearing? Been thinking of doing rolling 72s until I can see my abs again.

Answer

I have found that fasting does get my teeth whiter as I brush more to have fresh breath (keto breath no bueno). I smoke, and my teeth are so white my dentist was surprised to find out I smoke and drink enough coffee to keep starbucks stocks in the stratosphere. Thanks fasting!! (And brushing!)

So yes, totally fixable. Also check out a charcoal toothpaste to help the process along. Tastes terrible looks worse but does work and doesn’t cost much more than regular toothpaste. Good luck!!!!

Your teeth are a living part of your body, so I think giving them the rest of 72’s+ instead of eating once or multiple times a day would do them some good just like the rest of your body and allow your enamel to recover, but I’m unsure what the effects, if any, would be in the long term, especially on things you’d traditionally go to a dentist for.
I think I remember Cole mentioning teeth once or twice in videos from at least a year ago, but there’s no way I’d be able to find that video again. If you can’t get a straight answer on this post, you should track it yourself and make a post about it. I’m sure plenty of people would like to see/read about it, even if it has little or no effect in the long run.

Answer

I don’t know about fixing but it definitely helps keep them clean. From what I’ve read (I’m not a dentist or anything though) the bacteria that damages your teeth eats any leftover carbs/sugar in your mouth and that’s what damages your teeth, so by not eating anything you’re effectively preventing that bacteria from growing and damaging your teeth.

Answer

It depends on how far along the damage is and what kind. Surface stains can go away over time. Caries that aren’t far along on the enamel can very slowly. Once a carie has developed through into the dentin, it’s extremely unlikely that fasting will heal that, but you can stop further progression through fasting and a good diet as well as brushing.

Teeth won’t get whiter for everyone, though. Some people have a genetic disposition to having teeth that more of an off-white color, and that takes great measures by a dental professional to whiten them.
