Dry Fasted Marathon

I've been dry fasting 15-20 hours daily for almost a year now. It's been an awesome journey and has become my lifestyle (I can't see myself ever going back). Originally when I had the idea of doing 15-20 hour dry fasts every day I didn't think it would pair well with running every day as well. When I first started I struggled running a 5k. Two days ago I went out to run a marathon without having water for 12 hours and not drinking any during the run. It was so tough... It felt like a 3 day dry fast bundled up into a few hours. The first 15 miles were pretty easy because I am used to doing around 10 miles without any water but around the 16-18 mile mark it got really hard, plus it was getting hot(tish--85\*F) and humid. I ended up walking the last 2-3 miles because I just couldn't run anymore. When I got back to my car I sat for a few minutes, then drank some water. I drove to the store to get some coconut water (32oz) and watermelon juice (16oz)... drank them both along with a little more water. After that, I felt amazing... super energized and pretty much back to normal. It's crazy how the body can go from "I feel like dying" to feeling amazing in such a short time. I know there are some other runners here who dry fast, thought this would be some good encouragement to show what everyone is capable of if you put the work into it. My goal is to do a 50k dry fasted next.

I forgot to add this, but the idea of eating any food after this sounded repulsive. The first thing I ate afterward was an orange. Really wasn’t hungry at all after this, which is crazy because I used to eat an insane amount of food after a long run.
