I used to water fast OMAD style almost every day for a large portion of my life but not so much anymore. A lot of days I have about 30lbs of gear on for 12+ hours straight at a time. While water fasting on such days my mouth would get very dry and water would never seem to help unless I ate as well. If I ignored the dry mouth long enough without eating I would start to get terrible lower back pains that would gradually get worse. It took me a lot of time and pain to realize that water fasting while wearing all that gear was the source of those problems.

I miss all the mental benefits that fasting used to give me as well as the physical before I was introduced to dry mouth and lower back pain. I used to be able to water fast while doing OMAD and have great results regardless of whether I was working out 2-3 times a day but wearing all that gear even while doing nothing most of the day is a different beast. Does anybody have any advice as to whether dry fasting might work better for me or have any methods as to how I can introduce dry fasting to my lifestyle?
Answer
Try to dry fast on the days you are NOT wearing 30lbs of gear. If you can do that once or twice a week you’ll be fine.
After acclimating, try a dry fast with your gear on. Unlikely you can do this dry every day. Shoot for once a week with gear and build from there.
