I WFH and am usually up at 4a and at the gym by 5 after coffee. I train relatively hard for 45-60 mins, come home, shower, and usually just hang out til I start work at 8:30.
I usually do 18:6 or 16:8, and once I pick one I do it for that week. Sometimes one is just more convenient than the other.
My gym is full any other time of day so I’m not really interested in going during the afternoon or evening. But, I’m wondering if it’s okay that I train at such an early hour and then fast and don’t eat for a while.
Does anyone think that I should break my fast right after? Should I try to train later? Am I costing myself gains or recovery by doing this? Interested in your thoughts. TIA!
Answer
I believe it is entirely ok. More specifically, I believe that all ‘knowledge’ around meal/protein ‘timing’ in regard to exercise is lies perpetuated in order to sell whey powder and other supplements.
(Most of all, because for the body to rely so heavily on meal timing, makes absolutely no sense from an evolutionary POV.)
