I have gone through a lot of the information on this sub in reference to powders and making your own drinks with them. I find them bitter and kind of nasty. The main problem is, if you drink it too fast you are in the bathroom. I work from 8-4:30 and do not have access to a bathroom the full time. If I drink too much, I have to go almost immediately. I have never been one to hold it for hours.
Moving past my issues, is there any way I can get all of the electrolytes I need between 5pm - 11pm without drinking salt water? I am doing more of a OMAD then extended fasting but I am still fasting 23 hours out of the day. So I still have similar if not the same problems. I have looked up LMNT but that’s pretty expensive and a lot of other powders are full of sugar and additives.
What do you recommend, any advise to make the water taste better if that’s my only choice?
270 lb male, early 30s, fairly sedentary, walk about 1-2 miles a day for my job. OMAD is consisting of primarily meat and vegetables but not opposed to carbs coming from foods like beans and nuts etc.
Answer
I don’t feel the need to have electrolytes when I do OMAD, but YMMV. I like taking a magnesium glycinate pill shortly before bed, fasting or not. You can always take a pinch of salt and glug some water afterwards during the day if you’re feeling a little off. Work high potassium foods into your dinner, like spinach, watermelon, black beans, beets, butternut squash, avocado and yogurt, and make sure to salt your dinner.
Best of luck!
