I’ve been walking only, because I am the same. Gyms feel like a chore! I bought a Fitbit in October and was at 278k steps last month. I am not sure how many miles, but I try 6-7 a day.
Anyways, it’s been working great and I am down 16lb since October 22 (with a few bad days in between with eating, being sick, or mosquitos swarms disrupting my walks).
Stupidly effective.
Eating pattern is correct. Unchanged. Used to walk 15 minutes in morning, 15 minutes in evening: lost weight.
Got a car: gaining weight. Reason: cut out 2x 15 minutes of walk.
It’s that stupidly effective.
I do walk about 5k a day, but slow dog walk not fitness walk. I do yoga mostly and lifting weights once or twice a week.
But my mom did only walking as exercise and stayed in shape her whole life, so sure it can work as exercise. Very natural human activity.
I don’t know if you count it as walking but I adore GroWithJo’s walking workouts on YouTube. They’re fun and effective and I feel so good after doing them that I have finally become one of those people who exercises to feel happier. If I’m feeling crabby I’ll put one on just to change my mood. I vary which ones and how often I do them throughout the month, in alignment with the 4 phases of my menstrual cycle, but I average 20 minutes about 3 times a week and with that, IF, and a calorie restricted high protein diet, I’ve lost 30 lbs in the past 3 months.
I love it! I started walking every day back in June. I have only missed maybe 4 days total since I started doing it. I either listen to music or to a podcast while I walk. I cover anywhere from 3 to 6 miles per walk. I find I am generally happier overall. I now think of walking, tracking calories each day and doing IF (16:8) as the winning trifecta. For me at least.
